After Shahid Kapoor, and Harbhajan Singh, another tinsel town actor has been blessed with a baby girl. The only difference is that this is his second baby girl.
Yes, that's right. TV's popular actor Yash Tonk has become a second-time dad after wife Gauri Tonk delivered a healthy baby girl in a Mumbai hospital on January 31.
“We are ecstatic. Both Gauri and our baby are doing good. We should bring them home in a couple of days,” Yash told a leading national newspaper.
The couple has also chosen a unique Greek name for their baby. Yash says that this was the name the couple had decided when they had discovered that Gauri was expecting.
They have decided to name their baby Myrah. The couple’s first daughter, Pari, is 13-year-old. Interestingly, this was an unplanned pregnancy for the couple who have been married for 13 years now.
It was an unplanned baby
“Like Pari, even this baby is unplanned. Pari was born two weeks before our first anniversary. She is elated and has started mothering me. She can’t stop thanking me," Gauri had said in an interview to a leading daily.
The couple were on cloud nine when they came to about their pregnancy, especially Yash.
“He (Yash) was ecstatic. Honestly, I didn’t expect anyone to react the way they did, including my extended family. After my first child, I wanted to get back to work. So, the plan to have another baby was put on the back-burner,” she said.
Pari and Myrah would have a gap of 13 years, but Gauri feels that it does not matter.
“Nothing was holding us back. It is destiny – it will happen when it has to happen. Pari was born within a year of our marriage; I was only 23 then. Now when I look back, I feel glad that Pari was born so early because now we are like friends. Our daughter Pari is elated. During pregnancy, you often tend to feel irritated, but after seeing her (Pari) excitement, I forget everything. Two of us pampered Pari. Now, 3 of us will pamper the newborn," she says.
Even TV actress Shweta Tiwari became a second-time mother last year in December after a gap of 15 years. Shweta has a 16-year-old daughter Palak, who was born from her first marriage.
Preparing your child for a sibling
Here are a few tips that you can also keep in mind if you are preparing for a second baby:
- Express your love and affection to your child. Always say “I love you.” Give her hugs and kisses. Let her feel secure with the love you have for her.
- Find story books that talk about babies and what goes on in mummy’s tummy. Read these books to her before she goes to sleep. Demonstrate talking to the baby and let her do the same.
- Ask her to say “I love you” to the baby. Allow her to also hug the baby inside your tummy. As you do this every day, she will grow accustomed to the baby as a part of the family even when it has not arrived.
- You can also bring her along during your pre-natal visits to the doctor. Remember to involve her in everything.
