If you are a Madhya Pradesh-based working mother with young kids, then here is some good news for you. The central government is starting several facilities for working mothers in order to make their professional lives easier.
Under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD), they will begin with the following incentives:
- 62 hostels, many with daycare centres for working women
- This will include 3,438 women
- These hostels will provide facilities for 371 children
- You can expect 12 active daycare centres in these hostels
This initiative has been taken in order to empower women to go out and work without any hassle and was announced through the WCD Twitter handle.
Working women's hostel in India
This is a good news for women in the state who often use the working women's hostel. As per government schemes, single working women, unmarried, widows, divorced, separated and women who are married but their husband is out of town are given accommodation at these hostels.
For the uninitiated, this hostel facility is also provided to working mothers and other women in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat as well as Maharashtra.
Good news for working mothers in India
This news comes close on heels of two other major announcements for working mothers, made earlier this year.
- Draft National Policy for Women: WCD had earlier released a draft National Policy that would benefit not only working women but also those who stay at home. As per the draft, facilities ranging from education, health, natal and post-natal benefits, creches, daycare centres, child care, flexitime and better pay, among others will be given to working mums.
- In addition, the government also announced an immediate 26-week maternity leave and creche facility under their Maternity Benefit Act.
All of these incentives will soon be reality, many including the maternity benefit scheme from this year onwards. So if you haven't got a whiff of this good news, read and share it with your fellow mum friends.
Because working in India might soon get easier for mothers!
