How a woman contributes towards the success of a business

How a woman contributes towards the success of a businessHow a woman contributes towards the success of a business

Are you a working woman? This is a tribute to you!

If you haven't yet seen the latest advertisement by Tanishq, you should. It is about the quintessential Indian working woman, who manages all the aspects of her life. In the process, she is judged, discriminated against, and not really considered a 'serious' candidate, and yet, manages to excel. The reason? She just cares about being best at her work!

When I saw the ad, it reminded me so much of my wife! She is a heck of a woman. All her colleagues in her department are men. She recently delivered our baby and is currently on her maternity leave. And yet, she might be one of the most depended upon member of her team! She is already gearing to go back to work, and I am sure our kid wouldn't suffer in the process!

As a guy, I can safely say that men have it easy. They are not expected to contribute much towards the house, except probably, money. They are not expected to multitask, or take care of the kids by default. Those who do are thought to be 'Involved parents!' Women, on the other hand, are expected to obey the biological clock as a rule. For the society, career is something that is expendable for women.

Well, let me state the facts. The thought process is wrong. There are women who do take advantage of the system, and get away with less work, but then, so do men! The only 'concession' they get is when they are pregnant, and that too, just till they are back from the maternity. Little does anyone realise that pregnancy is not a laughing matter! It is one of the toughest phases in the life of an individual, and the things just keep on getting tougher!

Women are one of the hardest working members of a firm, and dedication and drive are not specific to a gender. Here are 5 reasons why the companies who empower the employees equally are more successful.

1# Sincerity

Right from the school, the girls are more sincere than the boys! This continues later in life, and women are most often the more sincere among the employees. When a sincere woman is empowered, she takes the whole team forward.

The sincerity also serves as an example for others to follow. The ad shows the pregnant woman attending a meeting that she could have easily skipped! In the end, sincerity pays. My own boss is often awake late at night worrying about work when she can leave the worry for another day!

2# Dedication

As seen in this ad, the intern does not play an intern. She takes initiative, and the work never stops for her! She is with her notepad wherever she goes. She believes that the job requires her attention and attention she gives! Late nights at work and giving up on social life is all for a cause.

3# Creativity

The problems in business are not often straight. Men like to approach every problem head on. Women, on the other hand, tend to be more creative about the solutions.

It is not always about solving problems. It may be the way clients are handled, or the emails are drafted or even be the way a logo is selected. I always believe that running the idea by a woman gives a good result!

4# Resilience

My mum is a strong woman. In her 20 odd years of working for a big Insurance PSU in Mumbai, she hardly took any days off. When I was seven, she used to spend 3 hours in a day in commuting. And this never affected anything in our lives! I often saw her taking a tablet when she was sick and going to work. For her, work was holy! She could not be insincere towards it, even when she was running a temperature.

We all know such women in our departments who never take a day off! They contribute immensely towards the success of the company.

5# Multitasking

In a corporate setup, you are expected to multitask. Guys need a calendar; the girls have it in their mind! They are good at coordinating and managing the work, and balancing their homes at the same time! Even at work, they are often seen on many committees balancing stuff that only they can balance! There is a loyalty behind this multitasking, and companies should appreciate it!

Beyond the reasons

Well, Whatever I have said till now is not something new. Everyone knows it in their heart. There are a few places where women do struggle, but those areas are temporary. If you are a business owner, empower your women employees to succeed. If you are a husband of a working woman, send her a message appreciating her! If you are a working woman, hats off to you!
