We adore Aishwarya as a mother, but we wonder why she STILL carries soon-to-be-six Aaradhya!!!

We adore Aishwarya as a mother, but we wonder why she STILL carries soon-to-be-six Aaradhya!!!We adore Aishwarya as a mother, but we wonder why she STILL carries soon-to-be-six Aaradhya!!!

Isn't she too big to carry now?

First things first, before we take any sides here, let me once again tell you all that am a mother to a six-year-old girl and I know how Indian mums love to pamper their kids and how they show all their laad and pyaar by holding their in their laps and even carrying them from time to time.

However, that's something you usually do once in a while or when you're still in bed or sitting comfortably in a couch somewhere, not when you're mall hopping or travelling!

I certainly can't imagine carrying my six-year-old daughter while at the airport or when out in the market because it is physically too draining considering that on an average six-year-olds weigh anywhere between 20-30 kgs.

This is why I wonder why a frail and delicate looking Aishwarya still carries her soon-to-be-six daughter Aaradhya whenever she steps out.

It was fine when she was a three-four-year-old girl who was still getting used to all the media attention, thanks to her superstar mother. And that's what Aishwarya had also stated in one of her interviews.

We adore Aishwarya as a mother, but we wonder why she STILL carries soon-to-be-six Aaradhya!!!

Aishwarya and her little one were returning from Cannes and Ash had to carry Aaradhya in her arms throughout. But, Aishwarya had a reason for it.

"Aaradhya has seen it (the limelight) since birth and I would like to think she is used to it. But when Aaradhya saw these people (photographers) coming, she just wanted to stop in her tracks and squatted on the floor. I knew it was time for me to pick her up. I just wanted everyone to be safe, including my child,” she explained.

"At one point when we were walking, she was in a great mood, even as people clicked pictures. She was laughing and saying something funny. But, when people started caving in, I had to pick her up because she is too tiny to handle all that. I had to steer my way through the crowd. It is just a protective instinct, I keep her close," she was quoted.

But now that Aaradhya herself looks excited to pose for the shutterbugs and has in a way gotten used to all the attention. These pics from last week are proof!

And many-a-times daddy Abhishek Bachchan is also with them. So why is it that it is only Aishwarya who carries her and not Abhishek?

Besides, carrying a baby older than two years can have a significant impact on your body, particularly your back. Many injuries happen when mothers do not have the right posture while lifting their babies. Here are a few common mistakes that mothers make.

  • Lifting the baby while standing straight: While lifting a baby many mothers stand straight and pick up the baby by the waist with their arms fully extended. This style could put undue stress on your back, say doctors.
  • Carrying the toddler on the hip: Many mothers carry their toddler on the hips and while it might be a comfortable posture, it creates a lot of stress on one side of the body putting a lot of strain on the back muscles of that side for a very long time.
  • Lifting the baby while sitting: Lifting your baby while sitting and stretching your back and arms is another posture that is a strict no-no
