It was a moment of "pride and honour" for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she hoisted the Indian tricolour in Melbourne days before India celebrates its Independence Day.
The actress is in Melbourne along with her five-and-a-half-year-old daughter Aaradhya to attend the Indian Film festival Of Melbourne.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the Indian independence the actress hoisted the Indian flag as an excited Aaradhya looked along.
The mother-daughter duo then sang the National Anthem cheerfully as the crowd joined along. Aishwarya kept on guiding Aaradhya on what she should be doing at the flag hoisting ceremony.
The Bachchan bahu and beti duo stole the limelight with their appearance and wore stunning Indian traditional wear. Aishwarya opted for a white green lehenga while Aaradhya looked super cute in a white ghagra choli with matching white bangles and bindi. 43-year-old Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also happens to be the first Indian woman to hoist the Indian national flag at the festival.

It was indeed a matter of pride for the former Miss World and she thanked the festival authorities and the city of Melbourne for inviting her.
"Celebrating the 70th Indian Independence day would be personally such a beautiful memory for me and mine, my dearest Aaradhya. Mujhe yeh lamha zindagi bhar yaad rahega. Thank you so much Melbourne, "said an excited Aishwarya after the flag hoisting ceremony.
