After Tusshar Kapoor, Karan Johar becomes a single father of twins via surrogacy!

Bollywood has started a new trend of single dads . How cool is that!

Months after actor Tusshar Kapoor surprised everyone by becoming a father of a little boy via surrogacy, ace director Karan Johar has become a dad of twins.

While there has been no official statement by the director himself, a report in The Times of India says that Johar has been blessed with a boy and a girl through surrogacy. As per reports, the babies were born at the Masrani hospital in Andheri (West) on February 7, which happens to be the same hospital in which Shah Rukh Khan's youngest son AbRam was born.

"The birth registrations were done on Friday," BMC executive health officer Dr Padmaja Keskar told the newspaper. Officials also confirmed that the name of the father was put as Karan Johar.

It is indeed a bold step and one that would help other single men come forward and do something they also wanted to do. Karan had, in fact, mentioned about this in his autobiography An Unsuitable Boy.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do about it but I feel like I would like to be a parent. I don’t know how it’s going to happen but I do feel the need because I have plenty of love to offer and I’d like to take it forward. This feeling needs a release and requires a platform. And that platform could be by being a parent,” he had said.

"Since it (love) is there, I would like to take it forward. I feel the paternal instinct needs to be acted upon. I feel there is so much within me and the love has to have a release, it is not going into a relationship, it goes to my mother, friends, company," he continues in his book.

Even actor Tusshar Kapoor had said that he wanted to have a baby desperately and as marriage was not on the cards he took the decision of opting for surrogacy.

"My son looks exactly like me. So, it makes me very, very happy and I don't have words to express how excited or how joyous I am. I will be turning 40 in a few months. I feel that I am in the right stage of my life to be a single parent, " he had said at that time.

And, over the months Tusshar has indeed shown the world that it does not take two to raise a family!

Lessons from Tusshar...

We're sure Tusshar can exchange quite a few notes on being a single dad with Karan Johar. Tusshar has indeed set a precedent for other men who want to have a child and raise it single-handedly.

Tusshar made sure that he involved the whole family in the process so that he can learn the ropes of child rearing from them. That's also a great way to pass on your family's traditional values to your child from an early stage. And since Karan lives with his mother, we're sure he would do that too. Living with grandparents comes with its own sets of benefits for kids.

1. Constant love and affection: Since they are always around, kids rarely feel alone and secluded. Grandparents not only pamper them, but also love them unconditionally, something all kids need during the first five years of their life. Kids that are loved and nurtured grow up to become confident individuals later on in life.

2. Life lessons and values: There is no greater teacher in this world than life itself and living with your dada-dadi alone can help kids get all their wisdom and values that can take them ahead in life.

3. Respect and love for others: Living with grandparents also teaches kids to respect the elderly and to adapt to various situations in life. They learn to be courteous, humble and become more sensitive to people around them. Now that's something that comes on its own and can't be taught!
