We all have been body-shamed at some point in our lives and mostly the ones to pass comments and lewd remarks are your relatives or close family members. But it's shocking to know that many of our A-list stars have also faced criticism when they were young and were trying to make a mark of their own.
After actress Sonam Kapoor's confession, Bollywood diva Rekha has now opened up on the taunts she used to receive from everyone, including top directors and producers, in her heydays.
In an interview to a leading national daily on the occasion of her 62nd birthday, the actress said that she wants to thank all the people who helped her become what she is today, especially the people who criticised her as they pushed her to give her all and become what she is today.
" I would like to thank all the people who doubted my capabilities and tried to crush my morale, by saying, “Oh, you may be a great mimic, but you will never become a great actor.” Or “South Indians will never drop their accent and master the diction and intonation of the Hindi language,” have helped me in my career. I am grateful to those who smirked and said, “Tu itni kaali aur moti hai, apni shakal kabhi aaine mein dekhi hai (You are dark and fat, have you seen your face in the mirror)?," she said.

It is indeed surprising to know that someone of Rekha's calibre, who is known for her exceptional acting prowess and timeless beauty, was subjected to body shaming when she was young.
However, known for her excellent oratory skills, Rekha added that she has no regrets whatsoever and she would not change a thing from her life.

"Life is the result of the choices one makes. My mother made the best choice for me — to be in the movies, and I shall be grateful to her for that. She always told me, “If your life is thought-provoking, it means you are worthy. Good, bad, ugly, people should never lose interest in you. It is only when the chatter stops that there is proof that no one cares and you don’t matter anymore.” I am proud of my roots," she said.

Talking about the greatest teacher of her life, Rekha said that she is a student of life and her biggest teacher has been nature. She also said that she was an obedient child and would never question her mother.
"I have always been an obedient child to my mother. I never questioned her actions. I am a passive aggressive rebel. I am strongest when I am silent. I am observant, perceptive and receptive to all vibes around me. I have an elephantine memory. I even retained things that I needed to forget. Focusing on the better side has been my motto, though anger is a valuable and strong emotion only if channelised in the right direction," she said.

Rekha has always maintained that she is not a ritualistic person and lives each moment of her life.
"I am not a ritualistic person. I believe in lapping up the best of life. I live each moment as if it is my last. Every day is a festival, and I celebrate it with gratitude. I am born again every single day, and I value the blessings bestowed upon me by my parents, family, fans and loved ones," says Rekha.
Now that's how we should all live our lives and not complain about small problems and issues. Like they say, never miss a moment because, the truth is, you are never going to get it back!
