Watch: This new ad featuring Indian sportswomen is just the inspiration we needed!
"I want to say to every girl and every boy and every woman and every man...play a sport...because it changed my life...and it will change yours too!”
If you have just about three minutes to spare, then spend it on this amazing video. Featuring actor Deepika Padukone and India's best female sportspersons, this new Nike ad will show you the true meaning of the incredible power of women!
This is no video about cricket or Kabaddi, it is about woman power, and their dedication to prove themselves through sports.
Padukone shared this new ad on her Facebook page and posted a note along with the video. She wrote about how sports taught her to handle failure and why every woman, whether a young girl or a mother should do the same.
“Sport has taught me how to handle failure. It has also taught me how to handle success. It has kept me grounded. It has taught me humility. Two years ago I struggled with depression. I was sinking. I almost gave up. But it was the athlete in me that gave me the strength to fight and never ever give up! And so I want to say to every girl and every boy and every woman and every man...play a sport...because it changed my life...and it will change yours too!” she said in the post on her page.
Padukone herself was a national-level Badminton player before she became an actor. While her father Prakash Padukone was ranked the world’s number one badminton player in 1980.
And, it is this connect with sports that you see can in the video as well.
Understandably, the video that also features Indian women athletes such as hockey player Rani Rampal, footballer Jyoti Ann Burrett and cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandana and Shubhlakshmi Sharma, has already got more than a million views.
