From 2008-2015, Uttaran got the Indian audience hooked to the television. The plot followed two friends of different economic backgrounds: Tapasya the child of a wealthy landlord and Ichcha, a sweet maidservant's daughter.
Their journey and acting topped all TRP charts for a very long time. However, once the girls grew up the viewers forgot about them.
