Organic home food is a must for all babies as packaged cereals in the market are overly sweet and processed. Processed food is not very healthy for your little ones.

Home-made cereal is a very healthy substitute for your baby and it is also extremely easy to prepare. Here are 5 super easy Home Made Cereal recipes you can prepare for your baby easily!

P.S. These can also be taken during travel to make quick and homemade food for your little one!

#1 Rice baby food

#1 Rice baby food

Rice is one of the safest foods to be fed to your baby. To make instant rice porridge mix, follow these easy steps.

Ingredients:

250 grams rice (Using par-boiled rice will be easier to digest for your baby.)

Method:

1. Wash the rice well and let it dry well in sun. You could dry it in sun or dry it with air.

2. Now take a heavy bottomed pan and roast the rice till they get nicely crisp. You must keep stirring constantly. This should take a few minutes.

3. Now allow it to cool down.

4. Take small quantities in the mixer and grind them into a fine powder.

5. Store in air-tight jars.

6. When you want to use this homemade rice porridge, just take a couple of spoons in a bowl and add boiling hot water. Leave it covered for about 5 minutes and your baby’s food is ready.

7. You could add some roasted cumin seeds or a little organic jaggery if your baby does not take it as is. But it is best not to give sugar in any form so that baby learns to appreciate food in it’s natural form.

8. You may add some mashed banana or applesauce or baby’s formula or milk to this too.

#2 Homemade Beaten Rice/ Rice Flakes/Poha baby food

#2 Homemade Beaten Rice/ Rice Flakes/Poha baby food

This one is very easy. Poha/ beaten rice or rice flakes is one of the easiest things to prepare and has been used in various parts of India as an instant breakfast since many years. To make instant poha porridge mix, follow the below steps.

Ingredients:

1 cup thick rice flakes/ beaten rice/poha/chivda/avlakki

Method:

1. Pick and clean the thick poha.

2. Dry roast it and cool.

3. Grind in the mixer and store in an air-tight jar.

4. When you need it, just take the required amount and add hot water and let it stand for a couple of minutes.

5. You could add mashed fruits, baby’s milk or curd to this too.

#3 Dal Rice baby food

Dal Rice Cereal will be enjoyed by your baby as it is a very tasty combination of food items. This cereal is extremely easy to prepare and will be very nutritious for your baby. To make instant dal rice porridge mix, follow the below steps.

Ingredients:

1 cup rice

1 cup moong dal(washed green gram)

Method:

1. Wash rice and moong dal separately.

2. Once they have dried a bit, roast them separately in a heavy-bottomed pan.

3. Once cool, mix them and grind together in a mixer to a fine powder.

When you want to use this, take couple of spoons in a bowl and pour boiling hot water. Cover for 5 minutes and porridge is ready.

5. You can make it tastier by adding some roasted cumin to the mixes.

6. You can also add some vegetable or fruit puree to this mix.

7. You may also top it with a little homemade ghee to prepare the instant gourmet meal for your baby.

#4 Instant Semolina/ Suji cereal

#4 Instant Semolina/ Suji cereal

Semolina better known as Suji provides your baby with great benefits. It is a perfectly balanced meal for your baby and it will also provide a good amount of energy to your little one! To make instant suji porridge mix, kindly follow the below steps.

Ingredients:

1 Cup Semolina (Suji)

Method:

1. Just dry roast fine Suji and keep stored in an air-tight jar.

2. When needed add hot water/milk and any fruit mashes that you want and your instant porridge is ready.

#5 Dalia/Broken Wheat Cereal

#5 Dalia/Broken Wheat Cereal

Dalia is very nutritious for you baby as it is made of whole wheat. It is easy to digest and extremely easy to prepare as well. To make instant rice porridge mix, follow the below steps.

Ingredients :

Broken Wheat 40 g.

Moong dal 20 g.

Groundnut 10 g.

Method :

1. Roast broken wheat, green gram dal and groundnuts.

2. Powder these roasted ingredients separately.

3. Store it in any air tight container.

4. When needed add hot water/milk and any fruit mashes that you want and your instant porridge is ready.
