It may be easy for star kids to enter the movie business, but it's a completely different ball game to stay on. And if there is one star kid who proved that talent can pass all tests, it has got to be Tabu.
The actor who made waves with her soul-stirring performances in Chandni Bar, Haider and Fitoor has not only carved a niche for herself professionally but has also led a different personal life, as compared to her peers.
The 45-year-old powerhouse performer chose a bachelorette's life and has been living it up. But that doesn't take away from the fact that marriage and motherhood interest her as well.
Talking about her marriage plans, Tabu revealed, "Yes, I am open to everything. I believe in taking things the way they come. Frankly, the way I am currently, I just believe in taking life by its horns and asking it to come get me. I have stopped worrying or obsessing over marriage or anything that is going to happen tomorrow or day after. I think it is a pointless exercise. We never end up doing anything if we just sit around and keep obsessing. But yes, I'm most certainly open to marriage, children and a family."
However, there is one person who she believes that been the responsible for her not being able to marry. Yes, you read that right.
THIS man has been responsible for Tabu's 'single' status
The Vijaypath actor recently shared that a fellow costar who is also a famous father has been instrumental in stopping her from getting married. And her reason will shock you!
"Ajay (Devgn) and I have known each other for 25 years. He was my cousin Sameer Arya’s neighbour and close buddy, a part of my growing up years and that has laid the foundation of our relationship. When I was young, Sameer and Ajay would spy on me, follow me around and threaten to beat up any boys who are caught talking to me. They were the big bullies and if I am single today, it is because of Ajay. I hope he repents and regrets what he did," she candidly shared.
"I’d want him to match up to my sensibility"
And while she did say that in good humour, it seems that she is not averse to the idea of settling for a married life.
And the reason that one can gauge that she's ready is because she has charted the idea of her 'perfect man.'
"The definition of a relationship changes with age. At 21, I was looking for certain qualities in a man, today it’s different. Apart from the compatibility aspect, I’d want him to match up to my sensibility,” she told a daily.
She also added even though she is ready to marry, she's not unhappy with her current 'single' status.
“Every woman looks for an anchor in her boyfriend or husband. When I do find that support in a man, I’ll settle down. Having said that, I’m not complaining about being single,” she added.
Well, it seems pretty clear that Tabu's priorities in life are not to become somebody's wife. She wants to be somebody in life, before she becomes somebody's wife. And that's one of the most important lessons we need to teach our daughters. But here are three other lessons that can make girls independent and courageous.
3 life lessons that teach girls to be independent
- Don't wait for a 'Prince Charming': A girl doesn't have to be a damsel in distress. Instead, she can just be a strong damsel who doesn't need a Prince Charming to help her in distress. Enroll your daughters in self-defense classes and help them help themselves.
- Empower yourself with progressive thoughts: We must also teach our girls to not discriminate against anybody based on caste, creed, sex or religion and not in the constitutional sense. Lead by example and explain why we must respect everybody's life choices.
- Uplift other women: This is an important life-lessons we must teach our girls. As opposed to taking criticism by the same gender as negative, we must take it as constructive feedback and work to better ourselves.
