Teenager commits suicide after father refuses to lend Rs 750 for picnic

A Mumbai-based teenager commits suicide by jumping off the fifth floor, leaves the parents in a state of shock

In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old teenager Radha (name changed) committed suicide after being refused money for school picnic. Radha, who was a resident of Dombivali studied in the ninth standard at a convent school in Dombivali (East).

Her father owns a Chinese fast food joint and has another boy and girl. It was reported that on Sunday night after her father came home late, Radha asked him for Rs 750 for a school picnic. On being denied the time, she allegedly got upset and at 2 am she jumped off the balcony of her fifth floor flat.

Immediately after the incident, her parents rushed her to the nearby hospital where she was reported brought dead.

Vishnu Avhad, assistant police inspector of Manpada Police Station, spoke to a leading daily about the incident. “The primary probe shows that the girl’s school had organized a picnic and Radha had demanded money for it. But when father refused for it victim committed suicide,” he reportedly said.

According to media reports, following to the incident, the Manpada Police Station has registered an accidental death report and they are currently investigating the case.
