"I had known Gayatri for a long time before we got married. We were just friends, more like acquaintances. Luckily, we kept bumping into each other and I strongly felt she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with," says Vikas in an interview to Forbes magazine.
Gayatri is often seen hanging around with her Bollywood friends such as Twinkle Khanna and Suzanne Roshan in the picture above. But it's surprising that Gayatri has completely taken the backseat and lets her husband do the talking. In fact, her Instagram and Twitter accounts are also set as private. In another interview, Vikas speaks about how they both love traveling.

"Gayatri and I share a passion for travel. Our pre-requisites for the perfect holiday are great food, amazing weather and loads of outdoor activities. We spend our summers either in Europe or on the beach in Thailand. When it comes to all-time favourite holiday spots, we each have our different choices. Gayatri loves Capri for its old-world charm, whereas for me the Maldives is the perfect place to unwind. We’re both excited about discovering new places, as we always come home with such wonderful memories," he said in an interview to a travel magazine.
Perhaps, Gayatri Joshi Oberoi does not want her sons and family to be affected by their star status and wants to keep them away from the limelight.
In one of her rare comments, she has mentioned that she really values the time that she spends with her family.
“The luxury of time with the family is of huge value. The ability to switch off the phone and spend two-three days together,” says Gayatri.
How to make the most of your family time
In fact, all of us should take some time off every now and then and spend with our kids and families.
1. Say no to screens: As far as possible keep your phones and screens away when you are alone with your family to keep all distractions away from your kids. Besides, your kids should know that it is important to bond with the family by not only watching TV and playing games but by way of talking and sharing things.
2. Listen to everyone: Make sure you listen to all that your kids and other members have to say so that even their slightest discomfort is conveyed to you. This would only help you understand them better.
3. Keep the fun intact: You can just sit idle in a room while spending some time off with kids. Break their ice and make them comfortable by playing board games and other activities that they are fond of.
