When actor and mum Sridevi shared that her elder daughter Jhanvi is all set to become an actor as well, everybody expected her younger daughter Khushi Kapoor to follow suit.
But it looks like the younger Kapoor girl has a different plan as far as her career is concerned. She will not be following in the footsteps of her elder sister and is not exactly interested in movie-making.
Khushi has chosen her career too!
However, she has chosen a rather creative line for herself and going by her social media appearances it is clear that she has been preparing for it for quite sometime, but nobody noticed.
During the promotions of her new movie MOM, the concerned mum shared that while Khushi is interested in the glamour industry.
"Yes, Khushi says she wants to get into modelling. Pehle, she wanted to become a doctor. Phir doctor se lawyer and now it’s modelling. So, I am waiting for the shock to happen," she shared with a daily.
She also added that because Jhanvi has chosen the movie industry, it has made it easier for the anxious parents to send their younger one off to it as well.
Jhanvi prepared Sridevi and Boney to accept Khushi's choice
"Woh instalment mein aa chuka hai. So yes, thanks to Janvi, we are now more comfortable with the idea of Khushi (in films) too,” she shared.
This relaxed revelation about Khushi's career comes soon after the doting mum shared that she was anxious about Jhanvi's career choice and didn't find it stable enough.
She wanted to do the film and initially, I wasn't in favour. I don't think it's a bad industry. I am a creation of this world. But, as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actress, I will be a proud mother," the English Vinglish actor told Mid-Day.
Unfortunately, her concern was 'taken out of context' to mean that she was unhappy with Jhanvi's career choice. So the Sadma actor even posted her statements on her Instagram account.
With this statement Sridevi proved that while she is concerned about her daughter's choice of careers, given their instability, she doesn't really think they should sit at home. She certainly wants them to stand on their own feet and earn their own buck.
But having said that she also added that the doting parents were ready to support their daughters come what may and will let them follow their own dreams. In sharing this opinion, Sridevi has sent out an important message- parents must support their kids' dreams.
And if you're wondering how to do that, here are a few ways to support your child's passion.
3 ways to nurture and support your child's passion
- Understand your child's unique interests: The most way to let your child follow his or her dreams is to first understand their dreams and their unique interests. Instead of doing what everybody else is doing, get to know your child better and don't force them to participate in the race of life.
- Let them think outside the box: We often categorise out kids and force them into organised sports and activities, but sometimes passion lies in the most unlikely of places. Let them explore their interests that may include painting or stitching as opposed to cricket or something else.
- Nurture optimism: Encourage your kids to get up after they fail and nurture optimism in them. Remember that optimistic children have the tendency to pick up after themselves and learn from their failures and we need kids who can learn from their mistakes in order to make a better world.
