Mum Sushmita reveals Alisah's favourite hobby after she gets a makeover!Mum Sushmita reveals Alisah's favourite hobby after she gets a makeover!

Along with a photograph, mum Sushmita shared one personal detail each about her daughters Renee and Alisah!

Single mum Sushmita Sen has been a fearless icon for women over the years. She is never afraid to voice her opinion and has often taken risks in life that today define her. One of these many risks was becoming a single mother at the age of 24.

She championed the cause of adopting girls by brining her two daughters Renee, 17, and Alisah, 7, home. It is also a well known fact that this single mum dotes on her two daughters and always showers them with love and encouragement.

Sushmita shares personal details about daughters

And while she shares many things about her daughters in her social media handles, there was something extremely personal that she only recently shared. Yes, that's correct.

The 41-year-old former Miss Universe and mumpreneur shared a photograph of her baby girl Alisah in a new haircut. But what caught everybody's attention was the text that accompanied the picture. This is where she shared a personal liking of her daughters, something she has never done before.

A post shared by Sushmita Sen (@sushmitasen47) on May 7, 2017 at 11:44am PDT

Along with this cute photograph Sen wrote: "She's an #angel & She knows it!!!! she flashes that 'knowing' smile when I need it the most!!!! Alisah with her new #haircut...nice job Aunty #Fatima...'Renee didi can have Maa's #shoes I just want her #jewellery ' wise choice Alisah!!! #sharing #happiness #beautifulsunday."

Sen revealed that while her elder daughter, the 17-year-old Renee is quite fond of shoes and often choses to borrow a few of her mum's, her younger bub, the 7-year-old Alisah is only interested in her mother's jewellery.

This honest and revealing post is the first ever from Sen, who usually does not disclose very personal details, especially of her daughters' likes and dislikes. It is also a revelation of her unique her parenting style and how she respects and encourages her daughters' likes and dislikes.

Sushmita's unique parenting style

As a single mum, while Sen did face problems to adopt her two daughters, she has often reiterated that motherhood has changed her life for good. But also that she is now extremely friendly with her daughters, as opposed to being a strict disciplinarian, which she earlier was.

A post shared by Sushmita Sen (@sushmitasen47) on Mar 25, 2017 at 3:56pm PDT

In an interview she shared that with years, her style of disciplining her daughters has also changed.

"I started off being a pretty strict mom but I find myself easing off, because now I'm not trying to figure Renee out; she tells me. She had a very strict itinerary because it was the only way to get her to understand discipline. No one agreed with me, but hats off to my little one. She's proved everybody wrong! She speaks her own mind and has her own sense of discipline," she shared.

With many of her social media posts, Sen has often proved to be a fun, outgoing and responsible parent. So while she allows her daughters to have their own opinion, she is also careful to help them learn some of the most crucial values of life. And let's be honest, there is a lot to learn from them.

3 lessons our daughters can learn from Sushmita's parenting style

  • Be unapologetically you: Sen has always been unapologetically herself and she teaches her daughters the same values as well. She encourages creative activities so that her girls can find a vent through which they can share their feelings, desires and visions.
  • Don't be afraid to try new things: Sen also encourages her daughters to experience new things, even if they are dangerous. Her idea of course is to help them see and learn from new things, and engage with new people and of course, make new friends.
  • Take on life as you would a new adventure: Sen who has been single-handedly caring for her two daughters has often shared that she will marry in due course of time and is taking life as is. She encourages and advocated the same to her daughters and we need to as well, if we also want to raise independent and strong girls.
