Yes, the whole world knows that Kareena Kapoor Khan is pregnant and she's quite kicked about the pregnancy. And, the media is leaving not a single opportunity to take pictures of her baby bump.
But what we're not too kicked about is the fact that Kareena was sported wearing heels at a few occasions after she announced her pregnancy. The Udta Punjab actress was spotted yesterday chilling with her sister Karisma Kapoor and best friend Karan Johar at Sanjay Kapoor’s residence.

While Kareena was looking as gorgeous as ever in a knee length black dress, what caught our attention was the black high-heeled shoes that she was wearing and we must say that we were a little shocked.
Going by what the news reports say, Kareena is currently in her second trimester and high heels are a strict no-no during the pregnancy. Here's why.
Wearing high heels during pregnancy
As your weight increases during pregnancy, your centre of gravity changes. This means that you have to be extremely careful while walking as your gait also gets affected due to the additional weight.
Besides, your body's ligaments tend to be looser during pregnancy that can lead to muscle strain and can also affect your joints.
And if you're unfortunate, you might trip over and the fall could hurt your unborn baby as well. This is why to-be mums are advised not to wear high heels during pregnancy. Besides these, here are other reasons why wearing high heels during pregnancy is a bad idea.

As mentioned, the ligaments in lower back and legs are loose during pregnancy and high heels puts excess pressure on them. This results in aches around joints and ligaments of the pelvic and back area.
2. Feet swelling
Feet swelling known as edema is very common during pregnancy and wearing high heels would further aggravate it. Additionally, accumulation of fluid in the lower part of your body might also result in pain and cramps.
3. Loss of balance
Pregnancy changes the way you walk and affects your gait. Your ankles also lose their strength due to the excess weight that you are carrying. This increases the chances of you tripping over and hurting yourself and your unborn baby in the process.
This could also lead to a miscarriage. Some studies also point out that high heels could trigger a condition called vericose veins during pregnancy.
Shoes to choose
However, if you do wish to wear heels during pregnancy, here are a few tips to keep in mind.
- Choose lower heeled shoes, ones that are sturdier and comfortable.Wear shoes that are not too tight on your feet as it can lead to swelling.
- Avoid wearing stilettos, platform heels or kitten heels as they might not help you balance properly.
- If you really can't do without them, wear them for short duration and avoid walking or standing for a long time wearing them.
- If you experience any discomfort or pain after that, do a few stretching exercises to soothe your legs.
