Just days after actor Salman Khan made a callous remark about his training schedule, mum Sonali Bendre Behl has slammed him for the same.
In her latest tweet, she wrote: "Retraction or no retraction saying it itself is not cool! Stop treating rape lightly! #respectwomen"
For the uninitiated, Khan whose next film Sultan is about to release, was questioned about his training schedule for the film. Since the movie is about a wrestler's life, it was expected that he would describe his gym routines. But instead, he said, "It is the most difficult thing. When I used to walk out of that ring, it used to be like a raped woman walking out."
While the remark went unnoticed initially, it soon sparked an outrage on social media.
Not only that, a complaint was filed against him with the Women's Commission in Maharashtra. And just today, the commission summoned him to their office. Not surprisingly, he was earlier was warned to apologise within seven days for his remark by the National Women's Commission.
In an interview to a leading daily, Vijaya Rahatkar, the chairperson of the state commission said, "We have summoned him on June 29 at 2 pm. He is a celebrity. People look up to him and he should have been more responsible."
The 50-year-old actor, however, has not once come out to either apologise to admit to his callous statement. Though his father Salim Khan did apologise on his behalf by writing a series of tweets.
Even his brother Arbaaz Khan came out to state that Khan's intention was not wrong, but the analogy was wrong. "It should be considered as one would the expression 'work like a donkey'," he reportedly said.
