Shocking! Jaipur mother slits four-month-old baby girl's throat as she wanted a son!

Shocking! Jaipur mother slits four-month-old baby girl's throat as she wanted a son!Shocking! Jaipur mother slits four-month-old baby girl's throat as she wanted a son!

What's even more shocking is the fact that the mother, Neha Goyal belonged to an affluent family and was well-educated!

It's shocking to know that many Indians are still obsessed about having a son and their obsession can make them commit some of the most heinous crimes.

In another shocking case, a four-month-old baby girl was murdered by her own mother in Jaipur as she was desperate for a son!  According to the news sources, the mother stabbed the baby 16 times with a sharp object and later hid the baby's body in the air conditioner to escape punishment. She then approached the police and filed a complaint for her "missing" baby.

"We started a detailed investigation on the same day as it is a joint family of 35 members. After going through the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, examining the CCTV footage and interrogating many family members besides neighbours, we have arrived at the conclusion that it was the mother who killed her own child. She has confessed to the crime as well," said Anshuman Bhomia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

What's even more shocking is the fact that the mother, Neha Goyal belonged to an affluent family and was well-educated. She later even confessed to the crime.

The investigation also revealed that Goyal, who already has an eight-year-old daughter, used to visit a lot of websites that helped women conceive a male child. She had also tried IVF, surrogacy, and IUI as well as visited priests.

"Another event which might have added on to the motive could be that the baby was having fits and the mother thought that she might be mentally disabled eventually. Although just like a seasoned criminal, she kept following up with the police to play the innocent card," Bhomia told ANI.

Not the only case

But Neha's is not the only case. There have been several incidents of female infanticide in India and many families ruthlessly either abort their unborn baby girl or kill her after she is born. The Invisible Girl's Project, that was founded by Jill McElya and her husband Dr. Brad McElya when they were living in India in 2009, has many such stories of female infanticides that would send chills down your spine.

In one such case a family killed eleven of their baby girls after the mother failed to conceive a baby boy. Shockingly, the twelfth baby girl was allowed to live. Another to-be mother from South India was threatened that she would have to murder her baby if it happened to be baby girl. However, Asha (the name of the mother) refused to kill her own baby after she was blessed with a baby girl.

One night she woke and found that her baby daughter was not next to her anymore. She heard a baby cry at a far distance. Next morning all her fears came to be true as she learned that her husband had drowned his own baby in a nearby pond.

There are numerous such shocking stories that, though make headlines for a day, are lost in newsprint and people move on and pretend as if nothing has happened. While we are making a lot of progress as a nation and have even reached the moon as a super power, the saddest part is that our girls are still being killed or facing discrimination at every point of their lives.
