theindusparent spoke to Mumbai-based clinical nutritionist Sneha Sadhwani Sewlani who lists down the following sesame seeds benefits, especially for children:

Makar Sankranti is around the corner and all of us have begun shopping for the til-gud delicacies, especially the til-gud or sesame seeds ladoos. However, what if we told you that the sesame seeds benefits shouldn’t be just enjoyed during Makar Sankranti but the whole year round.

In fact, sesame seeds benefits can help your kids too in more ways than you can imagine. Here are some sesame seeds benefits for your kids:

Sesame Seeds benefits for kids…

theindusparent spoke to Mumbai-based clinical nutritionist Sneha Sadhwani Sewlani who lists down the following sesame seeds benefits, especially for children:

1. Til-gud ladoo: A natural energy-booster

Heres why your kids should eat Til-Gud laddoos even after Sankranti!

Sesame seeds are a powerhouse of energy

These small black and white sesame seeds are small in size but combined with gud or jaggery they become a powerhouse of energy, says Sewlani.

“Sesame seeds are small in size, but they are a dense source of energy. Giving your little one til ladoos is a good way to replenish their energy stores. Til ladoos are a great way to keep your child fueled and focused,” she says.

Til-gud ladoos are also excellent to increase your child’s stamina and would keep him active throughout the day.

“It helps in increasing the stamina and keeps your child active all day long. Replace those sugar-laden chocolates and candies with these nutrient and energy-rich ladoos, ” she adds.

2. Til-gud ladoo: A recipe for strong bones

Rich in calcium, sesame seeds are the other foods besides milk that can help strengthen your child’s bones. This is especially useful for kids who are averse to milk or are lactose intolerant.

Heres why your kids should eat Til-Gud laddoos even after Sankranti!

“Besides milk, there are other bone-friendly foods that strengthen the bones and sesame seeds is one such food. Sesame seeds are a great source of calcium. Calcium is essential for proper bone growth, development and strength. Boost your child’s skeletal health by adding calcium-rich til ladoos to his regular diet,” says Sewlani.

3.Til-gud ladoo: A natural multi-vitamin

Most parents are often worried about their child’s immunity and think of ways to improve it. But did you know that having one til-gud ladoo a day can keep infections at bay? Yes, says Sewlani.

“Having one til-gud ladoo a day can keep infections away. Sesame seeds are packed with super-amazing nutrients that are required for a healthy body. They are a good source of essential minerals,” she adds.

Here are the nutrients that sesame seeds are loaded with:

  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Zinc
  • Copper
  • Manganese

“Besides this, sesame seeds are a good source of vitamin B1, vitamin E and antioxidants. These nutrients boost the immune system and fight against infections,” says Sewlani.

4.Til-gud ladoo: A sweet treat for wound healing

If your child ends up hurting himself quite often, then til-gud ladoo should be a must in his diet.

“Children are quite playful and they may sometimes end up hurting themselves. During this phase, eating a diet rich in nutrients plays a vital role in healing the wound faster,” says Sewlani.

Sewlani adds that sesame seeds are packed with an antioxidant sesamol that speeds up wound healing.

“Giving your child a daily dose of sesame in the form of ladoo can be helpful because sesame seeds contain ‘sesamol’, an antioxidant that boosts quick wound healing,” she says.

So, mummies, make sure your child eats til ladoos throughout the year to reap all the sesame seeds benefits.
