Parents-to-be Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are currently clearing out their professional schedules and wrapping up their work. The reason is that they want to spend most of their time with their little bundle of joy who is slated to arrive in two weeks.
In fact, they have already made special arrangements for the baby's nursery and according to dad Randhir Kapoor, they have also finalised Bebo's birthing plan.
Speaking about her plan of delivery grandfather-to-be, Kapoor revealed, "At the moment, we can’t say whether she will opt for a surgery or follow the natural procedure. Her doctors will take a call closer to the due date depending on the baby’s position and Kareena’s health. For now, we’re just preparing to welcome our grandkid."
Apart from this, Saif has also scheduled a month's paternity leave, just as actor Shahid Kapoor did at the time of his wife Mira's pregnancy.
In an interview to Mid-Day the Udta Punjab star said, “I am taking a full-fledged paternity leave. I was almost 14 when my brother (Ishaan) was born. I was grown up enough to know what my mother went through during her pregnancy. So, I want to be around Mira.”
Saif to go on paternity leave
Confirming the news of his paternity leave, Chef's director Raja Krishna Menon told DNA, "Yes, Saif takes a month off after a small schedule of my film in early December.”
Saif is currently shooting for this film, which is a remake of the hit Jon Favreau film by the same name.
But now that the dates of his baby's arrival are near, he plans to make the most of his paternity leave and spend as much as possible with his little bundle of joy.

Kareena Kapoor Khan's maternity leave
Although mum-to-be Kareena has been keeping herself quite active, chances are she will be a hands-on mum after the birth of her baby. She was spotted on the ramp, at red carpets and even did several glamourous cover shoots.
But she was most recently spotted at Manish Malhotra's 50th birthday bash, with hubby and sister Karisma Kapoor and stole the show with her daring black gown.
Bebo was seen caressing her baby bump as she clung on to her Nawab and posed happily for the shutterbugs.
But her regular appearances do not mean, she will not go into the conventional confinement. She has also planned her maternity leave and will be spending time with her baby before she begins shooting for Veere Di Wedding in April next year.
Sharing more details about her maternity leave Menon added, "Saif will ease back into work with the next schedule of Chef in January. Kareena will spend as much time with the baby as she wants to before starting her next film which is Veere Di Wedding with Sonam Kapoor.”
It seems that both of them have set their calendars according to their baby's arrival and do not plan to take any more assignments for sometime. And with famous celebs like Saif and Shahid highlighting the importance of paternity leave, it is sure to become a fad among modern fathers.
3 reasons new dads must take paternity leave
Although it's a fairly new concept in our country (given how fewer new fathers go on longer leaves), it is one concept that must gain popularity.
And if celebrities are making paternity leave glamourous, so be it, at least they are highlighting the importance of a father's presence in the early days of delivery.
Here are a three most prominent reasons new fathers must take paternity leaves:
- You are a co-parent: The tide may have changed in favour of new urban mums, but most Indian dads still feel that it is the job of the mother to take care of the baby. However, it must not be forgotten that it is also their own child and that they are co-parenting. It is equal responsibility of both parents to contribute towards child rearing.
- You bond with the baby: Although breastfeeding brings the mother much closer to the baby, early days of interaction with the father helps the child feel secure as well. Plus, you get to spend memorable time with your baby during the days when he may just have started to recognise you.
- You help your wife: Being a new parent can be an overwhelming experience and needs both partners to work together as a team. By helping your wife during night feeds and in helping set a sleeping pattern of the baby, you contribute in lessening your wife's burden.
