There is no doubt that women are multi-taskers. They can take care of a house, kids, their relationships as well their work with ease. But that does not mean they don't face any challenges.
In fact, one of the biggest challenges of a working woman is rejoining the workforce post motherhood. And if you thought celebrities do not have to face that struggle, think again. Because as television's favourite funny bahu Rupali Ganguly aka Monisha Sarabhai proves, it can be quite difficult especially if you are an artist.
The funny lady who married her longtime beau Ashwin K Verma in 2013 and is mum to two young sons is back on the small screen reprising her role as the 'middle-class' Monisha Sarabhai, this time for its webseries.
"After pregnancy I gained 83 kilos"
And during her recent interview she spilled the beans on the issues she faces as a new mother looking to get back to work.
"I was 83 kg after pregnancy and my children (two sons) are my priority. So when we finally decided to do a second season of the show, my challenge was to reduce my weight. I do not look the same on screen now. So, I was a little conscious about that," Rupali shared with a leading daily.
However, after a few years she decided to get back into the small screen with her stints in reality television shows such as Zara Nachke Dikha, Bigg Boss (Season 1) and even Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi 2. But at the time she still wasn't too comfortable leaving her boys behind and joining full-time work.
But now that she is back is the much-loved Monisha Sarabhai, Rupali is spilling the beans about how close her own personality is to her onscreen character.
"I am Monisha in real life"
Talking about her character and its similarity with her own life Gangulay says, "I'm a bargain queen from my childhood. I bargain even in departmental stores to get special discount on their 'best prize'! I mean why should the corporate companies make all the money?"
"After my marriage, I mellowed down a little as I stopped bargaining with vegetable vendors on streets, but otherwise I am Monisha in real life," she shared.
Although Ganguly hasn't really been ostracized for being 'too fat' or not able to devote too much time to work by her industry, there are many places where women lose their jobs simply because they are pregnant on go on longer maternity leaves.
