Just last week, the entire Bachchan family descended to pay their respects to Shri Krishnaraj Rai on his chautha. The ceremony was organised at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai, and many famous faces came to pay respect to Aishwarya, her family as well as her in-laws, the Bachchans.

Amidst the crowd, however, was one person who stole the limelight- the five-year-old Aaradhya. Her innocent face and visibly sad expressions were proof that she was missing the man she so fondly called, dodda.

But just like her graceful mother, Aaradhya held her own, clinging on to Aishwarya the whole time. And after 13 days of Rai's death, Aaradhya paid her final homage to celebrate the wonderful life lived by her beloved grandfather.

Along with her doting parents as well as daadu and daadi, Aaradhya attended Rai's 13th day after death, teravi and the way she paid her homage will surely leave you teary-eyed.

Aishwarya's late father Krishnaraj Rai, passed away on March 18, after battling lymphoma cancer. He was in the Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, for over two weeks where sadly his health was constantly deteriorating and he breathed his last on Saturday.

In fact, at the time of his funeral, Aishwarya was seen crying. But on the 13th day post Rai's demise, it seemed as though Aishwarya had come to terms with her loss and was dressed in traditional attire along with Beti B and husband Abhishek.

Many may argue that as to why she was well dressed! That's because Hindus believe that past 12 days of a person's death, their life must be celebrated and bhog must be distributed among the poor to mark their many years of peaceful life.

In keeping with the Hindu tradition of celebrating a life well lived, Aaradhya ad well as the entire Bachchan family came dressed in traditional attire.

While Shri Krishnaraj Rai lived a happy a healthy life, his last few days were difficult. As Dr V Shankaran, chief executive office, Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, said, “He was suffering from lymphoma that spread to his brain."

Luckily for him, his children were always close to him and during his ordeal beti Aishwarya was always beside him, spending sleepless nights at the hospital.

During the 13th day, Amitabh and wife Jaya also came to pay their last respects. Incidentally, right after Rai's death, Amitabh penned an emotional note about his death that left many in tears.

In his emotional note, Amitabh wrote, "That call you wait anxiously knowing that it will come, and come it does to end all other calls .. glimpses of reactions in the mind, of the lost one, of those that shall reflect on the lost one .. and suddenly then in the midst of sorrow and grief among the grieved and grieving ..."

He added, "That walk to the ultimate destination and the reality .. embracing the tragedy, the discussions on its transport, its rituals, its formalities .. the custom, the tradition, the visitors with the sadness and the embrace of consolation .. the last rites, the carriage, the placement, the cremation .. what to say what to put out where to put to .. all laden with grief and departure ..."

"And the happiest of them all, is the one that has gone .. for he is already in the arms of the heavens and in a realm of peace and tranquility ...In grief..." he penned.

During the ceremony, as soon as Aaradhya reached the dias, she went ahead and touched her beloved dodda's photograph.

All through this, mum Aishwarya looked lovingly at her daughter, who had clearly understood what happened. Aishwarya even guided her through to the dias so she could shower the photograph with flowers.

This touchingmoment stole everybody's hearts including the media and the family members' who couldn't hold back their tears.

This emotional moment was enough to prove that not just mum Aishwarya, but also the young Aaradhya was fairly close to her grandfather.

While Rai was still with his family, the little munchkin prepared a special surprise for him and made Valentine's Day special for the entire family.

While it may take some more time for the family to completely come to terms with their loss, one thing is clear, Aaradhya is grooming into a mature and loving child.

her actions and behaviour which was closely watched during these trying times was commendable and the credit certainly goes to mum Aishwarya and dad Abhishek who are instilling the right values in their daughter.

As Aaradhya bid adieu to her beloved dodda we pray that he may rest in peace.
