New mum Rani Mukerji spent one year shielding her darling daughter Adira from the limelight. But it seems that is no longer a concern for the Mardaani star.

The actor who is back to work after a long maternity leave was spotted leaving Mumbai with her one-year-old in tow. And while the 39-year-old posed patiently for the photographers, her daughter was slightly bewildered by all the attention coming their way.

But in all this chaos at the airport the one-year-old kept a close watch on her mother while still perched on her nanny.

Adira steals limelight from mum

Of course, once Rani was done posing, she hoped on a cart with her daughter and drove into the airport. However, Adira did steal her mum's limelight with her cute cherubic look and those big wandering eyes.

With this public appearance of the two together it was clear that the actor who has been open about her challenges as a new mother is now also open about letting her daughter experience a normal childhood.

In fact, in a special Mother's Day message which she dedicated to her own mum, Rani shared that she was keen on passing down her own middle-class family values to her daughter.

Motherhood is a glorious life force

She reportedly said: "Love, Strength, Tolerance, Acceptance, Bravery, Compassion. These are the things my mom taught me. I hope to instill the same in my daughter. Motherhood is a glorious life force. It’s huge and scary – it’s an act of infinite optimism. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers in the world."

In just a few lines, Rani pretty much summed up her own journey so far and her plans for her daughter.

The Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham actor who is reportedly travelling to Dubai was unfazed by the photographers taking her picture, which was contrary to how Aditya Chopra reacted when he was spotted taking Adira around.

But that was in the past.

The reclusive parents are clearly past that and are in no mood to keep their baby girl hidden away from the world.

What remains to be seen is how the two plan to raise their star daughter in the limelight with the values Rani plans to instill in her daughter. But in addition to the one's she listed, there are a few more things we can add to that list of values all parents must teach their daughters.

3 practical values to teach your daughters

  • Retrain her thinking: Instead of calling your daughter 'pretty' and 'cute' constantly, you should admire her intellectual and emotional abilities. Laud her for being helpful and kind, compassionate and strong and you will notice how that will shape her personality.
  • Choose progress: Teach your daughter to aim for realistic and achievable goals. Set an example yourself and stick to your own personal goals and reming your daughter that progress and growth are more important than perfection.
  • Encourage individuality: Praise your daughters for being true to their personalities. Since girls can be natural people pleasers they tend to take compliments such as 'good girls' seriously. We must instead teach them to be courageous and not conform to the rules laid down by the society.
