It seems that achche din are here, at least for newborns in Hyderabad.
While getting an Adhaar card issued can be a daunting task, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is making the process easier for new parents in the city.
In coordination with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited Technology, the GHMC has instructed five government and maternity hospitals in the city to issue Aadhaar cards. This is being done by the Ministry of Communication and Information.
This scheme will take off from July 15, which means you no longer have to run separately to get his/her card issued.
List of such hospitals
The system will reportedly be introduced at the following five hospitals from July 15 onwards:
- Government Maternity Hospital in Nayapul
- Government Maternity Hospital in Sultan Bazar
- Niloufer Hospital
- Osmania General Hospital
- Gandhi Hospital
“Babies born in these government hospitals will be enrolled for Aadhaar and their birth certificates will be issued within seven days,” CSC e-Governance Services assistant vice-president, J Raja Kishore told Express.
How will it work?
The process of issuing Adhaar card have already been charted by the authorities.
- All five hospitals will be given an enrollment kit and an operator. This is to register the birth of infants with Aadhaar enrollment
- They will also be given Tab-based applications, one tablet device, a fingerprint device and Adhaar certified resource for enrollment
- The daily reports that under this new system, UIDAI can source the birth registration data (BRD) from the RGI to generate an Aadhaar card
- The birth registration certificate will also have the Enrollment ID (EID) number in addition to the registration number
- Once this is approved by the authority, a birth certificate will be generated with the EID number of the baby
"This initiative is going to be a real “Government to Citizen” initiative and a paradigm shift from the traditional concept where citizens have to apply and wait for certificates," Raja Kishore told the daily.
As for the biometrics, they will be taken after he/she attains the age of five years. You can get this done at any Aadhar enrollment centre in the state.
