New mummy Kareena Kapoor Khan has always maintained that she would be working even after becoming a mother just like she was when she was carrying Taimur.
And now that Taimur is three months old, the yummy mummy is off to London to join hubby Saif Ali Khan who is shooting there for his upcoming film Chef in Europe and London but this time she has left her precious little son, Taimur, behind.
Yes, that's right. Kareena was spotted leaving the country in an olive green jacket and blue denims. Needless to say, the yummy mummy is on her way to get back to her pre-pregnancy shape and was looking stunning.
While Taimur's absence definitely comes as a surprise, Kareena had always maintained that she would not be home-bound after delivery after becoming a mother. Young Indian mothers are mostly expected to be at home after their pregnancy and take care of their baby. However, that's not how it is in today's day and age says, Kareena Kapoor.
“I have always balanced my work and my marriage. People thought that I wouldn’t, and I did. I am going to continue to do that. I think women know how to multi-task. Today, you see working women out there. If you have a family, if you have a child... It doesn’t mean you are home-bound. Of course, there is time for that and work," she said in an interview to a leading national daily.
Kareena also said that she wants to do work and life to go on like always.
“It’s not about proving a point. It was just something I wanted to do. It was something I believed in that I have nothing to hide. When I got married, it was the most beautiful phase. Pregnancy was the most normal thing that was going to happen and giving birth to a child is as normal as ever. I want life to go on," she said.
Leaving your baby for the first time...
Working mums like Kareena definitely have to get going, but things can be a little out of control especially when you're joining work after a maternity break and leaving your baby alone for the first time. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Get the baby ready: Start leaving your child with a babysitter or a trusted family member for some time every day, a few weeks before your joining date. This will help the baby get used to being without you and also get adjusted to the new caregiver.
2. Baby's feeds: If you want to continue breastfeeding your baby even when you're not around, start expressing your breastmilk and start feeding your baby with the help of a bottle meant for newborns as the baby would take some time to get used to the bottle. If you plan to switch to formula, it would again be a good idea to start doing that a few weeks before your joining date so that the baby's sensitive digestive system gets accustomed to it.
3. Take a trial: Once you've set everything in order, take a trial run to see if everything is in control when you're not around. Figure out the loopholes and come up with a backup plan in case you're delayed in office.
4. Let your baby know: We all think that babies don't come to know and many-a-times the mother sneaks away when the baby is sleeping or distracted. This would not be a good idea and you would only end up with a cranky baby.
Talk to your baby as an adult and tell him that you won't be around for a couple of hours during the day. Trust me, this would help the baby prepare and you'd see that the baby is calmer and comfortable when you're not around.
