New parents Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput are on cloud nine. Their little bundle of joy is growing up fast and has filled their lives with more love and stability.
In fact, on several occasions Kapoor has openly admitted that Misha has become the most important person in his life. His day revolves around his little baby girl and he only wishes to spend more time with her.
"For the first time, I don’t feel like leaving home. When not at work, I’d be at the gym or out with friends. Now, I can spend the whole day at home with Misha and Mira (Rajput). This thought never resonated with my personality before. It’s a big change," he recently said.
But his emotional side is not the only one Misha witnesses. Shahid, by his own admission is quite a hands-on father.
Shahid loves diaper duties
He revealed that he doesn't really take anybody's help to care for his own daughter and loves to do his daddy duties, which incidentally include changing diapers and even cleaning his baby’s vomit.
“With a baby, I wake up every three hours. I change diapers and most of my T-shirts have Misha’s vomit and milk stains on them,” he revealed.
He also added that the birth of his daughter has given him a purpose in life, something he didn’t know was missing.
“Misha gives me a lot of strength. Life is all about her now. I feel like I am ready to protect and even fight for her. I want to be my best for Misha. I never want to leave home once I return to my wife and baby,” said the doting dad.
But for his daughter, there os only one special person she has eyes for and Shahid recently revealed candid details about this person!

Misha's special someone
While Shahid has made sure to be as hands-on as he possible can, he does feel that Mira's importance in his daughter's life is irreplaceable.
"I don’t think any child can do without the mother. The mother, without any doubt, is the most important person in a child’s life,” he told Hindustan Times. He was talking about his wife's role in raising his daughter Misha and how she has been the real force handling her.
The Udta Punjab star used a cricketing metaphor to explain how he is just the assistant and that the most important job is done by wife Mira.
"In cricketing nomenclature, while the first to eleventh positions are taken by the mother, I can become the 12th man (laughs). Toh mein hamesha ready rehta hoon (so I’m always ready). Even if I’m not needed, I’m available,” he says.
How they came up with their daughter's name
During the interesting interview, he also spoke about how they came up with their daughter's unique name.
“Honestly, we got desperate [for the name]. We didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, and we never even tried to find out. That’s not allowed in India anyway. We just needed to come up with a good name, because, somehow, when you want to come up with a name, you don’t like any (smiles). And then you get really scared, because the date keeps getting closer,” says the doting first-time father.
And while many speculated that it was the new parents who together came up with the name, Kapoor revealed that it was actually his idea!
"And I asked Mira, ‘Is it nice? What do you think?’ She liked it instantly, and said it was very nice. All of this was happening five days before Misha was born,” he revealed.
Their daughter's unique name garnered as much attention as the star himself! But what struck him the most was how quickly his wife became so popular and loved by his fans.
Mira is more popular than Shahid, he feels
“Sometimes, she comes back [from somewhere] and tells me, ‘I went to some place today and people started recognising me. I am not used to it. It’s very odd’. Things like that do happen. But I guess that comes with the territory,” says Kapoor.
He adds, “So, she isn’t just Shahid Kapoor’s wife. Sometimes, I feel I will soon be called Mira Rajput’s husband.”
Well, this was bound to happen, but we must say that Shahid has proved himself to be quite a hands-on father and a husband who doesn't shy away from praising his wife.
3 things new fathers must do for their wives
His shower of praises for his wife is proof that he is a loving husband and a few things that he does for his wife, can act as inspiration for new Indian fathers as well:
- Take your wife out on dates: Just as soon as couples become parents, their baby becomes their first priority. They willingly devote their time and effort to raise their little bub, but often times forget about each other. However, it seems Shahid hasn't forgotten his wife! He is often spotted with her on lunch and dinner dates and even took her out for a babymoon right before the birth of their daughter.
- Acknowledge your wife's effort: New dad Shahid never leaves an opportunity to praise his wife and thank her for making him more happy and stable. New fathers must take a cue from him and learn that appreciating the wife, especially when she has just become a mum can boost her confidence and make her feel loved.
- Contribute in parenting duties: Most urban Indian fathers have become hands-on, since they like to help their wives with parenting duties. This is also an important if you want to keep the romance alive. By simply doing their own parenting duties, new fathers can help their wives relax and feel ready to take on further responsibilities.
