On the occasion of his mother's birthday, Riteish Deshmukh had a special surprise in store for his social media followers. For the first time ever, the new dad shared a candid picture of his youngest son, the four-month-old Rahyl.
Born on June 1, Rahyl has largely been kept away from the media glare and never really been spotted outside his home. But it seems that the second-time parents are no longer keeping his identity a secret and have taken the next step to introduce him to the world, much to the joy of their fans.
Sharing the rather beautiful picture of the cherubic little Rahyl, he posted: "It's a special day coz its my Aai's Birthday & on this special day I would like to share something special. #RAHYL #HappyBirthdayAai."
Not only the doting dad, but even new mum Genelia Deshmukh shared the same picture and titled it: "Rahyl Riteish Deshmukh."
A father's connection
It seems that the three-month itch that this doting dad mentioned a few days back is finally over and he has been able to make a great connection with his newborn.
For the uninitiated, in a recent interview Riteish revealed, "When you get into parenthood you just think that this is how fathers are supposed to be, but then you realise that the mother’s connection with the child is instant and they connect and for three months you’re wondering – how do I connect with this child?"
Adding that even though it feels odd at first, there is a time when you suddenly feel connected with your little one.
"I know it's my child but there's nothing happening and then suddenly one day it strikes you, there's a point in time maybe three months, maybe six months, maybe seven depends on each one. The child will look at you and he'll start owning you," he adds.
No wonder then he was able to make an important decision for his sons and this was something he had requested all Indian parents to follow.

Speaking at the launch if his new show Yaroon Ki Baraat, he shared an important message that applies to all Indian parents.
An important lesson for all Indian parents
“It’s totally upon them what they want to become in their lives. It’s their choice. As parents, we should not decide what our children should become. I want my kids to decide their future,” the new dad shared.

However, if there was one thing he did decide, it was to make an informed decision about sharing the picture of his youngest son.
Similar to how Geeta Basra followed the simple social media rules for parents, Deshmukh also made sure that his young son's privacy was not intruded upon and that he was still able to share his joy with his fans at an opportune time.
If you are also planning to share your baby's first picture online, then you must keep a few things in mind before jumping the gun.
5 golden rules of social media all parents must follow
As parents you must know that posting all kinds of pictures of your baby will do your baby more harm than good.
How, you ask? Well, first up, you are taking away his right to privacy and most importantly, you are making him a target of unnecessary virtual media judgement.
So how you protect your child from this? Well, with these simple steps.
- Do not expose your child's naked pictures online, no matter how cute he may look. You are endangering him by making him a target of peadophiles and child pornographers.
- Do not post pictures of potty-training. This is a personal experience that is very much between you and your baby, and the world does not need to be privy to it.
- Do not post location details and other personal information. By revealing where you might be headed with your baby, you are endangering yourself and your baby.
- Do not post a picture of your baby doing something unsafe and tagging "parenting fail." It might be funny to you but not to people who will subject you and your baby to unnecessary judgement.
- Do not post picture shaming your baby. Your little one is complete unaware of what's happening around him and any silly mistake that he does, should not be a subject of public ridicule.
