New mom Erica Andrews posted a photo to linen company Sakura Bloom on Facebook, just 24 hours after delivering her sixth baby. In what is a refreshing yet beautiful look at new motherhood, the post has generated a lot of buzz on the social media network.
“This is what 24 hours postpartum looks like,” she captioned the Jan 19 post. It has already got 39,000 plus shares and 7,50,000 comments, praising the new mom on her bravery and openness about the struggles of a new-mom body.
“Baby in sling. Skin to skin. Adult diapers. And a rosy glow. My body feels like it ran a marathon and my heart is wide open from yesterday’s travels. Birth opens us like an earthquake opens the earth and I am still in the intimate, fragile throes of that opening. I feel raw. Emotional. Different…”she wrote.

She further writes, “I feel like I’m on the undulating surface of the rippling ocean being tossed back and forth between happiness, gratitude, melancholy, and grief. 23 hours ago I held life within and 24 hours ago I surged and transformed allowing life to flow through me, into my waiting hands…”
She ends it with, “I am still processing the beautiful transition my whole family has traveled through and I am in complete awe of our strength as humans, women, and mothers. This time is simply unlike any other.”
Andrews’ post has garnered so much love and attention from netizens that most of them decided to share their own personal experiences of what becoming a new mom means.
While one reader, Rebecca Jo wrote, “Your photo is perfect. I remember seeing a pic of myself the first day after having my oldest, and I always thought how horrible it was because I still looked very pregnant. Seeing your pic has made me re-think that and realize that, at the time, I actually felt amazing.”
