Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar's mum is the REAL reason she won the crown!

Manushi Chillar has made India proud again and her mum is to be thanked as well. Read on to know why.

Congratulations are in order for Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar. The 20-year-old not only made her family proud, but also brought home the coveted crown after 17 long years.

And if you have been following the news you are perhaps already privy to this good news. But did you happen to catch the last part where just a mere mention of her mum clenched her the crown?

Yes, you read that right.

'Mum' is the right answer for Manushi Chillar!

Chillar who was a student of St. Thomas' School, New Delhi and is pursuing her medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Sonepat, gave a befitting answer to a tricky question and involved her mum in it.

She was asked, "Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?''

To which she responded, "A mother deserves the highest respect. It's just not about cash but also the love and respect that you give to someone. My mother has been a huge inspiration. it is the mother's job that deserves the biggest salary.''

This answer not just won many hearts but also the top scores from the judges and Chillar was crowned by Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle.

"She is definitely a result of my past good karma"

Naturally, her proud parents were elated and couldn't hold back their happiness. So while her father Dr Mita Basu Chillar a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said, "I am happy and honoured that my daughter is on the stage, she is definitely a result of my past good karma."

Her mum, Dr Neelam Chillar, an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences shared, "I feel very nice I have no words to express my happiness."

This answer was not a surprise from the very grounded Chillar who has always been vocal about her love and appreciation for her parents. In fact, during her introductory video at the coveted competition she shared, "I come from the land where science meets spirituality. My parents are my biggest inspiration. They have always motivated me to add value to other people's lives."

But Chillar is not just a well-spoken girl, she is also a multi-talented soon-to-be surgeon.
