With tonnes of their photographs splashed across newspapers and social media B-town celebs recently hit the Big Apple for IIFA.
And while it was time for most actors to shine and put their most fashionable foot forward, there was one non-actor who managed to steal their limelight. Yes, we are talking about the famously married, Mira Rajput Kapoor.
The better-half of actor Shahid Kapoor and the newest celebrity mum in town wore an orange Swapnil Shinde maxi gown and swept people off their feet, especially her hubby.
Mira...Always lucky for me
Kapoor seemed so smitten and in-love by his gorgeous wife and shared some secrets about their marriage.
The actor even posted a picture of himself with his wife and wrote: "My strength. Always lucky for me. (emoticon) (sic)." This is the second time the doting dad won an award when his wife was around. So naturally he considers he his lucky charm.
But that's not all he said about his 'baby wife.'
Kapoor was blatant and honest enough to dish out some secrets of his successful marriage and of course, he couldn't stop gushing about his lovely little daughter, Misha.
Kapoor began by talking about marrying somebody 13 years his junior. "At the age of 18, I had no idea that I will be married to a girl who was five years old when I was 18. I guess that’s the naughtiest thing I have done,” he said.
Yes, of course we are having another baby!
He also added that the couple are a 100 percent going to become parents for the second time around and that there was no doubt about it.
When asked if they were planning to have a baby, Kapoor replied, "Yes, of course."
His reply comes close on heels to that of Mira's a few days earlier where she confirmed that a second pregnancy was on its way. Talking about her desire to work, Mira shared her future plans with a leading daily.
"Yes, I would love to work, especially in a field that is creatively stimulating, but also allows me time with family. Perhaps something with food, or lifestyle," she shared, adding that she hasn't yet set a deadline because of that one reason.
"No (haven't set a deadline), because I am going to have another baby, and then decide," she said.
Although the couple may be taking just a little bit more time before diving into the baby-making process again, Kapoor says he is enjoying his time with his 10-month-old.
Misha has changed us
“She is the most important thing in my life. Everyday she changes us (Shahid and Mira) in many ways. I think about her before I think about myself," he said.
It seems that there is a bit of planning to do for these new parents before their next one arrives. But looks like it will take them a minimum of nine months and by that time, Misha may either be in her terrible twos or outgrown in.
Either way, they will have to prepare their little one for another little one. And if you are also anything like them, here's our two cents on how you should break the news of your second pregnancy to your elder child and make it easy for him/her.
3 ways to help elder sibling adjust to a new baby
- Open communication: You must have an open discussion with him/her about the baby and how he/she will become an elder sibling. Chances are he/she will understand your situation and get quite excited, but be ready to face a grumpy child if he loves being the center of attention.
- Involve the elder sibling: Your elder child may not be mature enough to make independent decisions, but you can always involve him in decisions for your baby. For instance, the kind of clothes, decoration of the nursery or simply helping you out with the baby.
- Ask him for help: Even if your elder child has taken the news of a new sibling well, he/she will still take time to get to know the little baby. So give them that chance by letting them spend some along time with your baby. You can do this by asking your eldest to baby sit, albeit for a little while or help you take the baby out for a walk.
