#MeToo: Have you also faced sexual harassment or assault? Let’s speak up together!
If you have been through any of this and would want to speak up against sexual harassment, be a part of this social media movement.
If you have been on any of the social media platforms in the last few days you have probably seen the hashtag that has taken the world by storm. Yes, I am talking about the hashtag #MeToo
If you’re not sure how this all started and turned into such a huge social media phenomenon across countries in the span of just about a few days or so, when actress Alyssa Milano wrote a tweet, asking women to respond with the hashtag #MeToo if they had ever faced any kind of sexual harassment or assault.
What came out as a result of this simple tweet message has shaken up the social media world completely. And even though the original tweet was sent out for women, men too have taken up the hashtag cause and come out in the open to share stories of how they were assaulted, harassed and made to feel unsafe, uncomfortable and vulnerable.
Here's my response.
See? That's my story. In just about 3 broken sentences. While there could be tons of pages I could write about the harassment I have faced since the time I was a child till even recently. I will speak up soon, and I will come out and share my story, but as of now, this is what I choose to share.
And yes, by the way, witty woman Mallika Dua also shared her story using #MeToo
Not all may want to talk about it, and that is absolutely fine. It's your thing after all, and how you want to deal with it is completely up to you.
But ladies (and even men, if you are reading this), in case you have been through any of this and would care to highlight the extent to which the menace of sexual harassment has spread and is so rampant today, do share it.
You can simply write a comment here using the hashtag #MeToo and share your experience in the way you feel comfortable in.
