In Saudi Arabia, men can eat their wives if they are hungry
According to a new fatwa issued by a top Saudi Sheikh, the act is a sign of obedience and sacrifice
We bet, this is the most bizzare thing you would have heard this year. According to a new fatwa issued by Saudi Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, men in Saudi Arabia can eat their wives if they are severely hungry. As per him, the ruling represents the 'sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband' and of course a way of showing love.
However, Mufti Sheikh denies issuing the fatwa. "Attempts by enemies to distract society from their main cause at the moment, which is standing together behind our wise leadership against attempts to distort the ummah [the world's Muslims]," reports Mirror.
The cleric has always found space in headlines with his statements, one of them being calling on all churches to be destroyed under the Islamic law.
The fatwa has outraged human rights activists, taking into consideration the appalling condition of women in the country.
