On February 19 2016, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) launched a department for developmental disorders, a paediatric rehab facility with advanced technology, specialized multidisciplinary team and a dedicated area for state-of-the-art services.
Equipped with a 3D Instrumented Gait Analysis Lab to evaluate gait problems in children, a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation medicine specialists, paediatric neurologists, child psychiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons, child psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, special educator, orthotists, nurses, and nutritionists will provide integrated services.
Eminent physician and recipient of Padma Bhushan, Dr Farokh Udwadia were the chief guest of the function. Mrs Tina Ambani launched the department by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the inaugural ceremony, Mrs Tina Ambani said, “Our children are the building blocks of the future, each one is a vital thread in the nation’s fabric and their potential must be recognized- and realized. For children with neuro-development disorders, an enabling environment becomes all the more imperative. Unfortunately, in India, those with special needs largely remain marginalized and excluded, even invisible. "

Dr Pradnya Gadgil, Paediatric Neurologist spoke about the symptoms of developmental disorder. According to dr the first symptoms can be seen when the child is three months. If the child doesn’t do eye contact or smile back, you should consult doctor. Also if the child is not able to walk without assistance or form complete words by 18 months then do pay attention. Also in school the complaints such as lack of attention regarding child is heard.
Doctors suggest to pay attention to these symptoms before saying your child lazy or naughty.
