Kim Kardashian plans on freeze-drying placenta and eat it as pills

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has announced that she plans on freeze-drying placenta into small pills that will help her ward off postpartum depression

When it comes making a splash, you can’t get any bigger than Kim Kardashian. Ever. And this time around is no different either. The reality TV star has decided to freeze-dry her placenta and convert it into pills so she can ward off postpartum depression.

After recently giving birth to her second child, Saint, with husband Kanye West, Kim shared her thoughts on freeze-drying her placenta. On her recent blog post, the 35-year-old talks about her decision and says, "I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of moms who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression, but then when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression. So I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?"

She says that she will get the placenta converted into pills. "And when I say 'eat my placenta,' I mean that I'm having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form," writes Kardashian. "Not actually fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW)," she adds.

She had contemplated freeze-drying it in 2013, with baby North, but later decided against it. Interestingly, her sister Kourtney Kardashian took the pills during both the second and third pregnancy and also announced the same on popular social media site, Instagram.

This trend is fairly new for most new mothers across the globe, let alone Indian mothers. However, young Indian couples are opening up to stem cell banking. The stem cell industry has already set itself the target of going from 2 per 1,000 to 5 per 1,000 babies. This target will be spread over the next 2-3 years.
