Everybody reaches a point in their lives where they feel ready to take on the responsibility of another human being. One such responsibility is that of being a parent and it seems that producer and director-turned-writer, Karan Johar, is ready for it.
While releasing his autobiography An Unsuitable Boy, the 44-year-old revealed that he wanted to be a parent and feels the need to do so now more than ever! In a no-holds bar interview he shared his thought on the subject of parenting and candidly revealed his plans.
"I have love to offer"
"I would like to be a parent. I don't know in what capacity, I don't know how it's going to happen, I don't have answers to those questions. But I do feel the need because I have love to offer," Johar shared with reporters.

"The love has to have a release"
He shared that he had immense love to share with everybody and that although it manifests into compassion for his friends and family, he feels that it would be better to direct to it a child.
"Since it (love) is there, I would like to take it forward. I feel the paternal instinct needs to be acted upon. I feel there is so much within me and the love has to have a release, it is not going into a relationship, it goes to my mother, friends, company," he shared with author Shobha De, who was anchoring the launch.
He also shared that his professional life had given him enough nurturing experience and he was ready to implement it in his personal life.
"I feel I have a nurturing quality in me. I saw that most when I launched Alia, Sidharth and Varun. I can't let them go off even now. It has been nearly five years but I see myself staring at what they're doing. Even for all those at 'Dharma'. The emotion comes from a very strong paternal space," shared the Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham director.
Incidentally, Johar is not the first person to express his desire to become a parent. In fact, actor Tusshar Kapoor acted on it when he had his baby boy last year via IVF surrogacy. In fact, soon after his son Laksshya's birth, Kapoor revealed "I will be turning 40 in a few months. I feel that I am in the right stage of my life to be a single parent."
Interestingly, the idea to have a baby via this method came to him from filmmaker Prakash Jha. “I met Prakash Sir on a flight and he told me this is a way also to have a family,” he revealed.
Two methods for potential parents
The two techniques, namely IVF and surrogacy have certainly given more hope to childless couples and potential parents in the country. In fact, famous faces including director Farah Khan Kunder and actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have openly opted for the method.
Indusparent spoke to Dr Priti Gupta, senior consultant in Fertility and IVF services, First Step IVF Clinic, Delhi, who explained, “Gone are the days when a childless couple was subjected to shame and embarrassment. Today, people are open to exploring new avenues and opportunities that offer them a solution.”
Dr Gupta added, “Modern couples are exploring this option in a big way. There is a huge popularity of IUI and IVF techniques in India and childless couples are open to opting this technique to experience parenthood.”
