Just a few days back it was reported that, Kajol and Ajay Devgan frantically rushed their mothers to the Surya Hospital in Mumbai.
News was that both the matriarchs were critically unwell. While Tanuja was rushed for fluctuating diabetes, Veena Devgan was hospitalised after she relapsed post a chest congestion.
Naturally, the task of caring for them was on the shoulders of the star couple who made sure to spend 24 hours with the two mums, taking over day and nights shifts. So while Ajay took over night patrolling, Kajol was in charge of taking care of both her mums during the day.

Fortunately just a week after their hospitalisation the mums were discharged on February 12. Needless to say, the doting daughter and daughter-in-law Kajol, couldn't hold her happiness to herself and even thanked the hospital for their services.
Now while Ajay will be out shooting, Kajol is solely responsible for caring for her mother as well as her mother-in-law who by her own admission, she's close to.
In an interview, Kajol even revealed that had it not been for the constant support of her mother-in-law, she wouldn't have considered rejoining work post her deliveries.
Mother-in-law is a constant support

While talking about her parents-in-law she said, "I am married into a family which is different from the one I grew up in. Here, women are more typically uni-dimensional, like in most homes. My mother-in-law, Ma, is simple and straightforward.... Glorious though the last two years (post motherhood) have been, I would not have survived them without her. I sometimes feel I am married to Ma…Ajay is out most of the time.”
She even added that had it not been for her saasuma, she wouldn't even have made a comeback into movies. "Honestly, even now I wouldn’t have come back to work if not for a good maid and of course, my mother-in-law."
Of course, the fact that she lives with her in-laws has helped Kajol form a strong bond with them. But living with the in-laws is a not a new concept, the only new is the fact that many famous urban couples including celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are also doing it.
And while many may not agree, living with the in-laws has many valued advantages, especially if you are young parents.
3 advantages of living with the in-laws
- Guidance: As a new parent, you'll experience many firsts and if there is family around you to help you with those firsts, you can excel in them faster. Plus, in-laws will naturally treat your child as their own, love and pamper him/her the same way and can guide you in decisions you may fins difficult. After all, they are your spouse's parents and deserve equal respect.
- Support: As a new parent, you'll have to cope with various changes. Modern new parents often try to work everything by themselves, but that's exactly what can wear them out. It's important that you seek help from your family members and friends when the need be. And who better than your babies' grandparents!
- Care: When parents get older, they need you as much as you need them. Caring for older parents must never be a baggage, no matter how modern you become. Plus, they are great to have around your kids. Perhaps one of the best things about having a grandparent is the amount of time they are willing and happy to invest in their grandchild. While most working parents work hard to make ends meet, their kids can be looked after lovingly by their grandparents, if they so desire. This means that they kids grow up in a loving family environment.
