Just in: Designer Masaba Gupta is all set to launch a brand new online kidswear collection

The biggest question all Masaba Gupta fans want to know is if she would design for Shahid Kapur and Mira Rajput's baby! So here's what she has to say about it

Designer Masaba Gupta revolutionised Indian womenswear when she first launched her collection in 2009. Her quirky prints and pops of colour gave her the apt title of the Queen of Prints, soon putting her on top of her game.

In fact, she was appointed the creative directive of Satya Paul in 2012, just three years into the industry.

And now she is all set to debut her kidswear collection in collaboration with Magic Fairy, a Kolkata-based kidswear brand. Her clothing line for kids (especially for girl) will also feature her signature prints and is targetting at kids aged between two and nine years.

She had made the announcement 10 weeks back (in February), about her new collection called 'Masaba baby.'

She recently gave an interview to a leading daily (India Today) about her debut in the kidswear industry.

She began by explaining that she was approached by Magic Fairy to come up with a collection that was 'signature Masaba,' which means it included her signature prints including 'toffee' and 'cameras.'

Gearing up!

"Magic Fairy reached out to us and said they wanted to do a line in collaboration with us; they wanted everything that screamed Masaba. We have the cameras and we have the toffees, so the collection is a mix of all our bestseller prints. The idea was to keep it very fun and young and make sure that the fabric is nice, soft and easy to wear for children and the colours are bright and vibrant," she told the daily.

She added that she intended to create the line over seasons and had already started working on the Autumn/Winter collection. "We might do more than two lines a year, but for now it's two lines a year," she said.

On being asked if she would design for Mira-Shahid's baby, Gupta responded by saying, "I wouldn't want to talk about that right now. Her pregnancy is a very, very personal thing. Until Mira speaks about it, I won't speak about it."

It was Gupta, who first sparked the rumours of Mira Rajput's pregnancy with this Instagram post. And the rumours were then laid to rest when Shahid Kapur confirmed the pregnancy during a press conference.
