In response to MoWCD proposal, the authority has finally announced a new benefit scheme for expecting mothers and new mothers in their non-executive cadre.

If you work in Coal India Limited, you are in for some very good news.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development had earlier sent a maternity benefit proposal to the Competent Authority of Coal India Limited.

And in response to their proposal, the authority has finally announced a new benefit scheme for expecting mothers and new mothers in their non-executive cadre.

Here are the key points:

  • 180 days maternity leave and 730 days childcare leave
  • To female non-executive cadre employees of Coal India Limited and even its subsidiary companies

This new scheme will benefit the employees starting May 1, this year.

In fact, the Ministry of Women and Child Development even took to Twitter to make the announcement.

They also thanked Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, for taking this step.

Last week in the Draft National Policy, the Ministry of Women and Child Development made several proposals to benefit not only working women but also those who stay at home.

It focuses on eight major areas of concern:

  • Health including food security and nutrition
  • Education
  • Economy
  • Governance and Decision Making
  • Violence Against Women
  • Enabling Environment
  • Environment and Climate Change

This National Policy for Women draft was released for public by Union Minister, Maneka Gandhi herself, in New Delhi.
