The Bachchans who are famous for throwing grand Diwali parties attended by the who's who of Bollywood just had a puja at their home.

The Bachchan parivar had decided to have a quiet Diwali this year as the family was still mourning the loss of bahu Aishwarya Rai's father earlier this year.

Keeping to their family tradition the family got together for a Diwali puja and refrained from throwing any big party. The Bachchans who are famous for throwing grand Diwali parties attended by the who's who of Bollywood just had a puja in their home.

The family patriarch Amitabh Bachchan shared a  couple of pictures from the family puja ceremony on his Twitter account.

In the pictures, the entire family along with Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan as well as Abhishek, Aishwarya, and daughter Aaradhya are seen sitting in front of their home mandir with folded hands. Amitabh shared another picture where he and wife Jaya have seen again with folded hands.

A few days prior to Diwali, Amitabh had announced to his fans that the family won't be celebrating Diwali in a big way as a mark of respect for their daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai whose father late Krishna Raj Rai passed away in March this year.

So, the family decided to have a low-key time with each other and performed the customary puja. Stating their reason for a sober Diwali, Big B also wrote an emotional post on his blog, which read: "A bereavement in the family restricts all .. and there is such this year and so. But the prayers and the other formalities shall prevail .. and the visits to other celebrations shall continue, and the love and affection within shall ever remain."

In the pictures shared by Big B,  the youngest member of the family, Aradhya Bachchan can be seen sitting on her mum Aishwarya's lap.

As has been evident in the past too, Aishwarya always involves her daughter in all cultural ceremonies of the family. She was recently also seen with mum Aishwarya attending a Durga puja event.

Dressed in a lovely off-set pink lehenga with heavy embroidered work, Aradhya looked perfect for Diwali puja. The rest of the other family including Jaya and Aishwarya chose neutral colours while Big B looked royal in his pink with gold work kurta.

Abhishek Bachchan wore a midnight blue heavily embroidered kurta and the whole family looked appropriately festive.

It may be noted that a few days ago for Amitabh Bachchan's birthday too, the family shunned any party or celebrations and instead travelled to Maldives to spend some quality time with each other.
