In a shocking case, a Silicon valley CEO originally hailing from India has gotten only one month of jail term even after physically abusing his techie wife for years as he was offered a plea deal.
Reports say that in spite of recorded evidence, which had been submitted by his wife Neha Rastogi, the owner of a customer behaviour analytics startup based in the Silicon Valley, Abhishek Gattani escaped harsh punishment as he offered "no contest" to his wife.
What's surprising is that Neha had submitted a 6-minute long video of physical assault taken by her iPhone on May 17 last year, in which Gattani had hit her at least 9 times.
"You begin to hear the repeated thwacks in the presence of their then 2-year-old daughter," reports the International website, The Daily Beast.
Neha was herself a techie and was working with Apple. The couple has been married for 10 years and have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
But as Gattani pleaded no contest all her efforts would be in vain now and he would almost walk away free with only a month in prison.
Last week, Neha had revealed shocking details about her abusive relationship with her husband of 10 years in a four-page long victim impact statement.
"Offensive touching, I call it terrorism... That's how I felt, terrorised, and controlled, held hostage by the fear of pain, humiliation, and assault on my being and my daughter's, "she said in court.
While the wife in the above case took 1o years to realise that she was in an unhappy marriage, there are some signs that every woman must watch out for if she feels that her partner does not love her.
