Kangana Ranaut is not your average girl-next-door, although she can be thanks to her profession. Instead, she is a fierce champion of women's equality, isn't afraid to speak her mind and is refreshingly articulate and quite self-aware. Not to forget, she also happens to be a three-time National Award winner.

But all those are her professional achievements. Personally, Ranaut is on cloud nine, thanks to her sister Rangoli who is pregnant and about to make her a maasi.

And while the usually private Kangana couldn't contain her happiness at this good news and shared it promptly, there is another thing she shared recently- a view of her gorgeous home.

The Queen star recently opened her doors for an architectural magazine, the pictures of which are now all over the Internet. And if you haven't yet seen it, let's take you on a tour of her eclectic home.

It is often said that a home reflects the ideas, visions and even the personalities of those who dwell in it and it seems that Kangana's quirky home is quite an exact representation of her roots and her being.

While speaking with Architectural Digest Ranaut explained that she tore down her previous home because it reminded her too much of a hotel and did not feel like home.

But after a while, it started to feel like a hotel. As actors, we travel a lot, and stay at five- and seven-star hotels, and coming back to another five-star felt too cold and sanitized," she shared. So Ranaut asked her designer to add pieces that reflected her Himachli ancestry and reminded her of her own home.

Kangana who has become somewhat of an icon for women across the country is a simple country girl who loves her pahadi influence as much as she loves her Channel.

No wonder, then her home is a mix of Indian and English influences and may remind you of a creative artists' humble abode with pictures of influential figures and artists alike.

"I’m a mountain girl, and I wanted a bit of a mountain flavour, with a lot of greenery and colour," she shared with the architectural magazine.

This particular space was specially designed based on her requirement so it reminded her of her own home.

She especially asked the designer to give the wall a worn down look. In the interview Ranaut says that when one of her relatives saw the wall, he asked to clean it up for her, thinking it's too dirty.

The maasi-to-be also has a four-poster bed in a huge white bedroom facing the big gorgeous white windows.

This is a great idea for people who like to add amid of English into their desi rooms and is refreshingly pristine and uncluttered.

Her room also has a big sofa and ottoman, which is perfect for a reader's abode.

The small corners

Most of us may have side tables and those odd ball pictures hanging on our walls, and if you though it's too much, don't worry, even Kangana has a corner like that.

In what seems to open straight to the balcony, Kangana's home has space of her cute personal photographs and quirky side tables.

In the interview, Ranaut admits that since she did not intend on wasting too much water, she replaced the swimming pool with a small garden.

“I felt really guilty about wasting so much water in a city like Mumbai,” she shared. As for her idea of a perfect home, she said, “My idea of a perfect house is a place that takes me closer to my roots, while I look into my future.” Well said, as always.
