I’m taking a full-fledged paternity leave, says Shahid Kapoor
"I want to be around Mira during her pregnancy. This is my once in a lifetime opportunity or twice in a lifetime opportunity, maybe"
Shahid Kapoor is going to be a father soon and the actor is making sure that he takes extra care of wife Meera during her pregnancy.
In an interview to Mid-Day Shahid, who's riding high on the success of Udta Punjab, said, "I want to be around Mira during her pregnancy. This is my once in a lifetime opportunity or twice in a lifetime opportunity, maybe (laughs)."
The actor says that he is planning to take a full-fledged paternity leave and is really looking forward to spend time with his pregnant wife.
"I am taking a full-fledged paternity leave. I was almost 14 when my brother (Ishaan) was born. I was grown up enough to know what my mother went through during her pregnancy. So, I want to be around Mira," said an excited Shahid.
The actor also goes on to say that Mira is quite young and it is not easy for her to adjust to so many changes. He says now that her film promotions are done his whole attention would be on wife Meera.

"Now it is all about Mira. She is the one who is pregnant. She is very young and I think it is not easy. I just want to be with her, around her. Around the time the baby is due, I will not shoot for at least a month. I want to be there in the last few days of the pregnancy. I want to be there when the child arrives and enjoy these moments, as these are feelings you experience perhaps once or twice in a life," he said.
So, does that mean that the actor wants more than one child. He laughs and says, "I don't want to speak too much about it, maybe one or two babies will happen. Some of it has to be private. I want to soak it in and I want to be there. I have heard star kids complain that their parents were not there much in their childhood. I do not want to be that guy."
