Hrithik-Sussanne put their differences aside to ring in the New Year with kids in Dubai!Hrithik-Sussanne put their differences aside to ring in the New Year with kids in Dubai!

The couple got divorced in 2014.

First, it was Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan who forgot their issues and came together to celebrate the son Arhaan's 14th birthday and now it looks like estranged couple Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan are also following suit. Yes, that's right.

The two, who were once known as the "it couple" of Bollywood, have put their sons above their differences as they headed to celebrate the New Year with their kids.

Hrithik and Susanne are currently in Dubai with their respective friends and family. Sussanne was the first one to post an image on Instagram with her kids and brother Zayed Khan's wife Malaika and her kids.

Hrithik and Sussane got married in 2000 and the couple got divorced on November 1, 2014. While the couple had an out of court settlement, initially there were reports that Sussanne had demanded Rs 400 crore as alimony.

The couple had filed for divorce in April 2014 after 13 years of marriage. Their parents have joint custody of their kids.

On December 14, 2013, Hrithik had issued a statement announcing his separation. "This is my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me, my love for her must accomplish that."

In fact, Hrithik and Sussanne have always made sure that their separation doesn't affect their kids and their relationship as parents. Couple of weeks ago the two had taken their kids out for dinner, setting an example on how sensible parents should behave for their kids after their separation.

Taking care of your kids after a divorce

Divorce can make things bitter between you and your spouse, but being a parent you should not let it affect your child as that could be detrimental to his emotional, physical and mental health. Here’s how you can help your child cope with your divorce:

1. Work as one team: It’s important to assure your child that no matter what happens between the two of you, you would always be one team and would always be by his side in times of need and even otherwise. This also means that you celebrate important festivals and occasion together as a family, just like Hrithik and Sussanne.

2. Never force our child to take sides: Irrespective of your relationship status, you both will still be your parents and your child would naturally love you both equally. This is why never force your child to take sides and drag him in your spats and quarrels.

3. Never disrespect your spouse in front of your kids: Communicate effectively and be cordial to each other, no matter how bitter you are from inside. Never ever disrespect your spouse in front of your child as for him you two would always remain his parents. For life!
