Here's how Malaika Arora Khan lost her pregnancy weight and maintains her svelte figure

There is no doubt that mum Malaika Arora Khan is a fitness enthusiast. She eats healthy, sticks to her exercise routine and believes that dedication is the key to achieving an hourglass figure.
In fact, in an interview to Apollo Life she mentioned, "I don’t support diet fads or any of those crash diets at all. I am not somebody who encourages it, who does it or who endorses it… I am dead against it, purely because I don’t think it works. I believe in being healthy, eating healthy, eating right and working out. I think basically it’s a healthy lifestyle one should focus on."
Malaika's strict exercise regime
No wonder then she has one of the most envious yummy mummy figures. But her dedication and hard work towards achieving a healthy body is certainly not hidden from anybody.
On the contrary, we see her sharing several videos and pictures of herself exercising and hitting the gym hard!
One such instance that revealed her secret to that svelte figure was a post she recently shared. She is seen practicing a strenuous pilates move to strengthen her core muscles and along she posted: "Core stability keeps me balanced."
The 43-year-old mum also joined a cross training boot camp, which will be a different addition to her usual pilates training. This kid of change of exercise regime is also something most fitness experts recommend.
Vinod Channa, a celebrity fitness expert, who helped Shilpa Shetty Kundra lose post-baby weight agrees. "A combination of different types of workout is also very important because one gets different benefits from different techniques," he says.
This is perhaps one of the many reasons Malaika is able to maintain her svelte figure. But it wasn't always the case. She wasn;t all this hourglass when she was pregnant with son Arhaan Khan, 13 years back.
So how did she lose all that pregnancy weight? Well, she spilled the beans!

How Malaika lost post-baby weight
In the same interview Malaika revealed how quickly she was able to bounce back into her pre-baby body. "I was back in shape and working out in the gym, quite honestly, in two months time!" she revealed.
This was thanks to following a strict diet that excluded traditionally heavy Indian meals.
"I think food becomes heavy when it has cream, oil or spices added to it. I don’t like food that has too much of thick cream or dry fruits in it. I like simple and nicely cooked food than those heavy traditional Indian dishes," she shared.
As far as cheat meals are concerned, Malaika believes that mums should not stop themselves from enjoying what they love to eat, but always remember to do so in moderation.
"I would say a definite ‘NO’ to fried foods and heavy food. Excess fried foods or any form of rich food is a complete No-No for me. I will never say ‘no’ to sweets, but rather have it in moderation and everything else in moderation," she says.
Know your body type first
But in order to truly follow in the footsteps of Malaika and work towards getting her svelte figure, mums should first identify their body types and work towards getting healthier.
Channa explains, "It's a good idea to figure out your body type. Knowing which of the three basic body types (Endomorph, Mesomorph, and Ectomorph) you're closest to will help you better tailor your diet and exercise plan and set realistic, attainable goals that pave the way to your success. Finding out your body type will help you know your ideal workout and perfect regime."
How to identify your body type?
Channa further explains how one can identify their body type and plan a workout regime accordingly.
"One can easily know their body type just by understanding their health, physique and body structure. An Endomorph has narrow hips and clavicles, small joints (wrist/ankles) thin build, stringy muscle and long limbs; where else an Ectomorph is blocky and has a thick rib cage, wider/thicker joints, hips as wide (or wider) than clavicles and shorter limbs."
He adds, "A Mesomorph will look well-proportioned even with a little added weight. They have wide clavicles, narrow waist, thinner joints, long and round muscle bellies."
Once you have figured out your body type, it is easier to chart out a workout regime that can concentrate on your difficult and bulgy areas.
