This incident is shocking reminder of why we need to be extra careful of our kids' safety during winter.
Precautions parents must take
Winters can be a tricky weather, especially with young kids running around the house. Most Indian households still use immersion rods for heating water, and if you are one of them, here are a few things you must keep in mind.
- Keep safe distance: Always heat water at a safe distance from kids. Even if it is in the bathroom, make sure to always close the doors to keep your kids safe. Also, make sure to inform them once that you have kept a rod and that they must stay away from it.
- Use small buckets: If you want to carry water, do so in small buckets and not big ones. This way you can not only easily carry them, but it also prevents spillage onto anybody you pass by.
- Be aware: Know that young kids have the tendency to run around and run the risk of accidents, so as a parent it is your responsibility to keep an eye on them and have them supervised by somebody older when you are not around.
