Maggi has come under the scanner on account of having excessive monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead more than the permissible limit. After performing some tests on Maggi, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) confirmed the same. 

As per reports, the Lucknow Food Safety and Drug Administration wrote to FSDA asking them to cancel Maggi’s license. The final stand by FSDA remains to be revealed.

Artificial colouring

Present in: Many types of processed foods, beverages

Suspected of: Causing increased hyperactivity in children, worsen asthma

High fructose corn syrup

Present in: many kinds of processed foods, not just sweets. Most non-edit soft drinks are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup

Suspected of: raising the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes, more than sugar made from sugar cane.

Aspartame

Present in: diet soft drinks

Suspected of: causing cancer, seizures, headaches, mood disturbances, and reduced mental performance
