As a new mom, one of the parameters you are judged on is how fast you can lose your pregnancy weight. The quicker you lose it, the higher you climb up the yummy mummy ladder. One could never ever imagine Shilpa Shetty piling up kilos on her lithe frame. But during pregnancy, the actress steadily gained 20 kg and weighed a whopping 80 kgs at the time of birth. And within a year after becoming mommy, Shilpa got back her shapely figure and now looks gorgeous than ever before.

Her road to fitness was all thanks to a gradual exercise regime and a healthy, balanced diet. As revealed to Times of India, Shilpa stated that she started her weight loss programme slowly, with low impact exercises such as walking and cycling. She then moved on to weight training, cardio and yoga spread out over five days a week. That’s one dedicated yummy mummy.

The vivacious Mandira Bedi garnered the praise of many fitness enthusiasts when she managed to shed 22 kg in just six months post delivery. And as she shared with The Hindu, it was possible because she set a target and gave it all to achieve it.

Mandira chose to combine fitness training and cardio to get rid of those pounds. She also shared that she chose power yoga as conventional yoga would bore her. More power to her focus, we say.

The blue-eyed beauty lost oodles of weight after both her pregnancies and still looks radiant and fresh every time we see her.

As mentioned to Indiatimes, Karisma Kapoor revealed that it was the right mix of healthy eating, exercising and running around her kids that made her lose the 24 kg she put on during pregnancy. She also mentions that she never starves and eats 6-7 small meals a day with a gap of 2-3 hours between them. Hmm.. that’s something to chew on.

She was repeatedly criticised for not losing her pregnancy weight quickly enough, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan held her head over those sharp comments. She took her time and gradually got back to shape to get back a svelte figure that fits beautifully into shapely gowns.

According to sources, Aishwarya ate right and preferred to practice yoga over workouts. She did put in efforts on functional training and cardio workouts at home.

The confident Lara Dutta was a fitness and yoga enthusiast throughout her pregnancy. So it wasn’t surprising that she easily dropped down a few sizes after the birth of her daughter, Saira.

In an interview with Telegraph, Lara mentioned that it is important to get post-natal massages for 40 days after delivery and breastfeed regularly, as it burns sufficient calories. She also rightly mentioned that if one exercises through pregnancy, it is far easier and quicker to shed those pounds post baby.
