New parents are often advised to be prepared with extra diapers, clothes and even food for their babies while travelling. But it seems this father's forgetfulness cost him national humiliation on a social media platform.
Just as many before him, who used Twitter to reach out to the Union External Minister Sushma Swaraj, new dad Prabhakar S Jha reached out to Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, asking him to help him get a diaper for his daughter.
He tweeted directly to Railway Ministry informing them that he was travelling with his baby girl and was in urgent need of diapers.

Just as soon as he tweeted, the ministry swung into action and even retweeted to him asking for his PNR number and destination and journey details so they could swiftly assist him.
However, it wasn't before the angry Twitterati bashed this careless father for misusing the public platform and being simply forgetful.

He earned the ire of some concerned parents who advised him to be more alert next time and not to misuse this facility.

While these two netizens were still polite, there were others who were left offended by his carelessness and did nothing to conceal their displeasure.
Prabhakar may have thought to be the first person in need of such help, he actually is not. He is perhaps the first to face the backlash for his innocent request.
In January this year, a passenger who was travelling on Darbhanga-Hyderabad Express made a similar request. A tweet to the Railway Ministry requesting their assistance in providing a diaper was made and not surprisingly, fulfilled at Bokaro station.
This innocent tweet by a concerned yet a somewhat careless father highlights just exactly why new parents need to be more careful while travelling with infants.
Here's what you must know while travelling with infants
Little babies can be your best travel buddies when they are quite young and the journey is short. However, if you are travelling long distances, you must be prepared for some emergency situations. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
- Begin by packing a few days in advance, so there are no last minute hassles.
- Prepare a checklist if you tend to forget and include basic items such as diaper bags, blankets, plastic bags, wipes and tissues, breast pump (if needed), extra clothes, pacifiers, formula, first-aid kit and slings and strollers. Yes it's a long list and yes, it's all necessary!
- Use plastic bags for diapers and air-tight containers for milk as well as bags with shoulder straps for keeping away dirty clothes.
- Keep your electronics and gadgets charged and carry a power bank if needed.
- Keep your doctor's number handy and an emergency contact saved on your cell for unforeseen circumstances.
