The glitzy world of Bollywood comes with its fair share of makeups and breakups. There have been many failed romances that have proved that nothing lasts forever, not every fairytale weddings.

This means that many couples who were once touted as being 'head over heels' in love with each other, grew apart and eventually separated. Their love stories soon slipped into the 'controversy' zone and splashed across papers as mirch masala. But as they say, you learn from your mistakes.

These separated couples have found peace in love in their respective lives and are now famous for being the controversial 'not-so-couples' of the recent past.

#1 Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan

When the 'Greek god of Bollywood' married his shy and beautiful childhood sweetheart, he broke many hearts. Theirs was a marriage often touted to be 'made in heaven.'

They were seen praising and supporting each other on red carpers, movie premiers and often spent a lot of time with their two boys Hrehaan and Hridhaan. But it all fell apart in 2014, when the couple divorced each other by mutual consent.

Their marriage was marred by alleged controversies of infidelity. However, the two decided to work together for the sake of their two boys and often spend time with them.

#2 Farhan Akhtar And Adhuna Akhtar

The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor and his stylist wife and owner of the B:Blunt salons stunned everybody when they announced earlier this year that they were going to get separated.

In fact, the couple who were 'much-in-love' and have two kids together issued a joint statement at the time of this announcement.

"This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner," read the statement.

Their marriage was also marred by alleged controversy of infidelity, but it seems that the couple have put that behind them and continue to support in each other.

#3 Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap

When actor Kalki Koechlin married the once married Anurag Kashyap in 2011, everybody expected theirs to be the perfect marriage. But just last year, the couple got divorced at a family court in Mumbai.

The couple had gotten married after working together in the movie Dev D, and Kalki is reportedly also very close to Anurag's teenage daughter Aliyah with first wife Aarti Bajaj.

Post their marriage, the couple have maintained cordial relationship with each other but have maintained a controversial distance from each other over the past one year. In an interview, however, Kashyap was quoted as saying, “The biggest loss in my life has been that of Kalki.”

#4 Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur

Theirs was perhaps one of the most controversial and long divorce settlement in the history of Bollywood. With name-calling, property fights and mud-slinging all thrown in.

Actor Karisma Kapoor and Delhi-based industrialist Sanjay Kapur finally got divorced this year after a "troubled 13-year marriage" as The First Post described it.

The couple had been fighting a long separation battle that included custody for their two kids Samaira and Kiaan, which went to mum Karisma Kapoor.
