When regional actor Monalisa entered the much-dreaded Bigg Boss house last year, most people did not know of her. But when she left the house she became a household name. The audience fell in love with her affable personality.
So it wasn't a surprise that she got the opportunity to star in another reality television show Nach Baliye, this time with hubby and fellow actor Vikrant Singh Rajpoot. But that's not why she's hitting the headlines.
The 34-year-old whose real name is Antara Biswas, has undergone a major physical transformation and lost oodles of weight within a few weeks. Yes, that's correct.
How Mona lost oodles of weight!
She apparently follows a few simple things to maintain her svelte figure and is clearly sending out the message that if she can do it, so can others. But what are these steps?
The actor who practices for close to seven to eight hours on the dancing reality show works out everyday and has switched over completely to healthy food. Naturally, the results are for all to see and she looks visibly thinner.
But what Mona has achieved is not tough. Anybody who workouts just three times in a week can also have a flat tummy like her.
What you need to do to lose weight!
In fact, actor and mum Shilpa Shetty Kundra recently explained how exercising just three times a week is enough to lose weight quickly.
"The third thing I've started to do is because I'm a mother and it's a full-time job, plus am also working and I know this for a fact that there are a lot of working women and men out there find it difficult to take out time for themselves. But I try to take out three workout days, where I workout for 45-50 minutes...I pay more attention to the way I breathe. It aligns your mind, body and soul. In the fast paced life that we lead, it's so important to just take a moment and breathe," she shared.
But what are the basic exercises that one must do in these three days?
Understand your body type for quick weight loss
We spoke to celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa who explained the exercises one must do based on their body type.
"Not everybody is created equal, therefore, exercises cannot be similar as well. First understand that there are three basic human body types: the Endomorph, the Mesomorph, and the Ectomorph. One can easily know his/her body type just by analysing their health, physique and body structure," he shared.
Channa also explained how the three body types look, "An endomorph has narrow hips, small joints (wrist/ankles) thin build, strong muscle and long limbs. Whereas an ectomorph has a blocky body with thick ribcage, wide or thicker joints, hips as wide (or wider) than clavicles and shorter limbs. A mesomorph will look well-proportioned even with a little added weight. They have wide clavicles, narrow waist, thinner joints, long and round muscle bellies."
For each body type, Channa then explained the various types of suitable exercises.
Exercises you must do based on your body type
- For an ectomorph body shape: You should concentrate on gaining weight in the form of good, lean muscle tissue. Weight training should be fairly heavy and done at a slower workout pace with longer rest periods between sets. Don't weight train too often or for too long per training session. Eat a diet high in quality foods, eat more than you're used to, and eat often.
- For an endomorph body shape: Your biggest concern should be losing fat and adopting a lifestyle that keeps it off. Strength training should be done to get a better muscle-to-fat ratio, which will help to boost your metabolism. Use moderate weights at a fast training pace, allowing for very little rest between sets and exercises. Lower your calorie intake and eat frequent but small meals to make sure you're still getting adequate nutrition. Eliminate sugar, sweets, and junk food from your diet. Get your heart pumping by engaging in some form of daily activity such as brisk walking or biking.
- For a mesomorph body shape: You have a naturally fit body but, to maintain or improve it, you should adopt an exercise and diet regimen that compliments your build. You can strength train more often and for longer periods of time, but be careful not to overdo it. Train with moderate to heavy weights and keep a moderate pace, making sure not to rest too long between sets. You'll find you gain muscle quite easily. Don't fear; you won't get "bulky. When you're happy with your muscle size, simply train to maintain. Stick to a good, healthy diet to stay lean and muscular, and watch for any slow-creeping fat gains. Engage in and enjoy aerobic activities, but be careful not to overdo it.
